British singer Terry Reid opened for the Rolling Stones on their 1969 US tour. Some new Terry Reid photos have just hit the web. Taken in 1969 at Ungano's in New York City only a few months before the US tour, they are for sale through this website for a very short time. Terry fans take note and order soon. [thomlukas.com]

What a wild real rock'n'roll cut Reid does with Bang Bang, the utoob clip here. Raw and righteous. His River album is very good, IMHO, and worth seeking out, along with his other works. Y'all might have to cherry pick through them, but y'all should be well rewarded.

Terry has been battling cancer nowadays. His UK/Irish/Norwegian (his first ever) tour in the coming September and October has been postponed.

Let’s pray for his recovery.
His friends are calling for donations for fundraising for his treatment.

Did Terry Reid turned down the offer to join Led Zeppelin in 1968?

that's awful

here's hoping he gets through this ok

another great musician i wouldn't have known about if wasn't for the rolling stones

in fact most of the musicians i love i first sought out and found because of some connection to the stones

The first Stones show I saw opened with (after Long John Baldry, also MC) Peter Jay and the Jaywalkers with Terry Reid on vocals. Somewhat eclipsed in retrospect by the rest of the bill, but I still have good memories.

You know, I don't believe I've ever knowingly listened to Terry Reid; that'll have to change.

Here's hoping he gets the support he so desperately needs.

I see there's a few 'big name' donators on his 'Go Fund Me' page.

if you want a point of entry, you could do a lot worse that his performance at glastonbury 71 - captured in the film from that year:

terry's 'dean' starts at around 6'40"

if you don't come away from that converted, then he's not for you!

From Robert Plant’s Facebook:

“Terry Reid's enthusiasm and encouragement were incredible back then ... still teenagers we crashed each others' gigs and crucified Season of the Witch time and time again … So much fun. So on it. He was all of everything ... such charisma.
His voice, his range ... his songs capturing that carefree era ... Superlungs indeed. He catapulted me into an intense new world he chose to decline ... I listen now to his album The River and shed a tear for my brother in arms.

RIP. Besides legendarily turning down Zepplin and Deep Purple, he was supposedly also the only human being who ever heard Jimi Hendrix play with Miles Davis

R.I.P. Mr. Reid

Was blown away when a copy of The River record floated my way a couple of years ago. Not a record you see too often in the States.

About 7 years I went to the Simon Stokes tribute and brought CD's of the Joe Perry & Friends show (which Terry was a part of) for a friend. Terry was there and I gave them to him instead. He said "@#$%& yeah!" and gave me a hug.

Terry Reid turned Keith into Fender Telecasters with a humbucker in the neck position. The rest is history.
