Wow- these two show how it done. In the 60's I thought Tom was corny...what do kids know? Incredible pipes and loads of soul...

Very nice. Knopfler played this great Charlie Rich song with his side project, The Notting Hillbillies six years before.

Back on topic..
Here's an absolutely OUTSTANDING Tom Jones & New Model Army cover of that well known Rolling Stones song... "Gimme Shelter"

It was one of 8 or so cover versions done by matching up unlikely artists to cover the same song. They were all issued at the same time on CD singles and on Vinyl (in an attempt to top the charts I think).
It was done for a homeless charity called 'Putting Our House In Order' and was masterminded by Sherry Daly in The Rolling Stones office.
Worth adding that in the pre-show music at Wembley in 1999(??) there were two Tom Jones songs.
