Never heard about a canceled show in SF in 1976.

Great, they used an 80ies photo for a 76 show poster (European Tour) in San Francisco. A nice and expensive fun project...

Of course it is fake.
That kind of design is well known in rock posters world.
They use bands, guest stars, dates and venues randomly, they cost 10$ and are made as decorative items only.
It is a revival thing , not necessarily bad, but that guy in ebay is trying to cheat somebody.

walk by the Seine in Paris and you see a lot of posters for concerts that never took place (like Hendrix and Dylan at the same show etc.)

I wrote a message to him about the fact, there was now Stones show in SF in 76. May be he didn't know what he tried to sell. Well. May be...
And I doubt, anybody would have baught a poster for 1.700€.

I have seen this poster at a Trade Show several years back and the seller said it was real and I told him it was a total fake. Was a fanatic at 14 years old. My wife says I still am. Lol. Always read Rolling Stone, Cream, Hit Parader, and Circus. There was never even a rumor to best of my memory of the Stones coming back to USA after the European tour for Black And Blue. Most of these posters are total fakes

Actually there was a July 4 rumored show at the LA Coliseum but of course it did not happen. I was annoyed because I live in LA but was in Europe at the time and would have missed it

Thanks for asking: NO and it drove me completely nuts. It seemed like whenever I got to a city they had already been there and in ‘76 that kind of info was hard to come by if you were not local. When I finally learned of their last show in Vienna I was in Ireland and there was no way to get there in time.

On eBay about 10 years ago I did buy a poster of the tour that hangs on a wall with a Keith pick from Dodger Stadium ‘06. And I have managed to see them twice in London at least since 2012.

Oh yeah, the European Tour you mean. First time (and only time methinks?!) they ever focused a tour solely on Iron Curtain countries.

A pity about the riots that broke out in Sofia & Leningrad. Glasnost was not without it's issues, to say nothing of Perestroika Pit Pricing. They sure did learn from that one!

About 25 years ago a poor lady drove almost an hour to my home at the behest of a record store owner friend of mine. She had what she thought was a valuable Rolling Stones poster from the 1969 tour.

She was more than a little crestfallen when I explained that the Stones did not play Cincinnati in 1969 and Joe Cocker didn't open for them on that tour. Moreover the photo of the band on the poster was from the inner sleeve of "Sticky Fingers" released taken and two years later.

I still have the poster.

I loved my vintage Rolling Stones poster. Then I learned the truth.

During the 2018 tour, I saw a poster for the Manchester show that I loved. It wasn’t an official poster, and I was able to contact the artist - an art student in Texas as it turns out. She was nice enough to send me a high res image and I had it printed and framed. Then I started seeing the image on various items on line, including phone cases on Amazon. I let her know each time - she hadn’t authorized them OR been paid, and she had some removed. So I was surprised, in December 2021, when I saw the poster hanging at Unzipped in Kitchener!

I remember liking that Manchester poster when it circulated back then STG.
Was my first concert in England, where I scored a rare *single Lucky Dip pit ticket.. concert was a blast.

Didn't normally go for the non official merch at the time, but if it's good enough for the Stones.. just ordered one off eBay.
Much better than the official, thanks for posting again. smileys with beer

Very cool story, thank you! I'd be thrilled if I was her. Did you tell her about it, STG?

Hi Cristiano, I let her know about some of the ‘merch’ circulating with her image, and she was able to get some pulled from Amazon. I let her know about Unzipped as well. Flattering… but not very profitable for an art student! I hope she’s able to monetize it - it’s wonderful and she deserves the $$$.
