No rematches. They would just determine it by lottery if all stats are equal.

Well, that's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back. US 0 England 0.

I think this is the fourth game this tournament to end 0-0!

Fifth, but who's counting?

Meh! A ‘nothing game’, but we, the English, are in the driving seat, at least.

You’ll still win your group with ease I think. Everyone has a bad game. To repeat Lee Dixon’s statement of the bloody obvious, if you don’t lose, you stop the opposition from winning 3 points. Well strike me down with a feather spinning smiley sticking its tongue out.

Problem solved:

ENG vs USA on BBC Radio 5 and Chicago-Montreal muted on the TV screen.

Topi, which NHL team do you follow?

Habs.

Ahh. I'm a huge Hawks fan but I need them to lose this year so they have a shot at first pick next year which will be Connor Bedard, who will be a once in a generation player like Crosby and David. Bedard's Regina Pats are doing their western road trip and the local games in Vancouver, Kelowna, etc. are all sold out.
Back to FIFA, I hope Canada can score a goal against Croatia on Sunday. They haven't scored yet this tournament and didn't score in 86. TSN shows every game and I'm a fan of Janine Beckie, who's one of the commentators. Canadian Women's National Team player, Olympic Champion, was with Man City but transferred to Portland where they won the USWNL championship last month!

FIFA and Qatar: perfection with damn near everything against being a human being with the world's most boring sport.

What a horrific set up. Surprised the teams are participating. Says a lot.

The 2022 World Cup will always be known as the Fake Cup.

Didn't you read the first post of this thread? I wrote this:

"Feel free to post comments about the games here, but please do not use these pages for discussing politics. Thank you."

If you think football is a boring sport, or if you do want to past about FIFA and World Cup politics, please play by the rules of IORR and post your hate posts other places, outside IORR.

My apologies. I did not see that.

When you are used to watching The Premier League and then you watch The World Cup you realise just how dull international football really is. I’ve seen some dull games in my time but that one last night. Dear oh dear.

To think that The Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and other domestic competitions were postponed for this guff makes my piss boil.

Most of the teams on this championship have hardly played together. They do come directly from Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga and so on, and they do not play well together. Brazil is an exception.

Usually the World Cup is in the summer, then I assume they get a bit more time to play together. What we see now is simply two teams of 11 players who do not know each others well, performance wise.

Just a thought: cold the fact that this World Cup is taking place during the football season mean that, perhaps, the players will be less tired, less exhausted after a full football season behind them?

I still believe in England. It is a tough job, but there'd been some progress and some day they will beat USA in World Cup... grinning smiley

A 0-0 result does appear to be rather common so far. Out of curiosity, what would be the tie-breaking formula for advancement if all 4 counties in any division each played each other to 0-0 draws in every match? Rematches with shootouts?

Fair play. They would count up yellow cards and red cards.
If still tied, they would draw lots.

Argentina is under pressure, Messi doesn't seem to be very inspired and Mexico is very motivated but I see a draw 1-1.

Almost feel sorry for Messi, again surrounded by a mediocre team with a bunch of butchers.

That one will be huge.

Glad to see the Aussies eke out a win earlier today.

Out of "my 3 teams", Canada is facing Croatia tomorrow. Little trash talk going on between the coaches in the media! Stakes are high.

Probably the most publicity Canada will get! If we beat Croatia then coach John Herdman will look like a genius for saying F*ck Croatia to his players and then later mentioned it in interviews but if we lose, then he'll be called out for giving Croatia extra motivation! Herdman is the first coach to coach both the men's and women's world cup teams

Some players seems to be more tired than others during this championship. Harry Kane (England) had fatigue and had to leave the training field earlier this month. Still he has been playing more Tottenham games. The game last night with England vs USA had some tired players. I think it is a shame to start a tournament without giving the players proper rest.

Harry Kane's fatigue forced him to stop training session in worrying England update (Daily Mirror 10 Nov 2022)
