I was at that Newark show in person.

I wish they had just released the entire Pay Per View broadcast as a blue ray ...
I would have bought that.

I recorded the broadcast back then onto a dvr that was built into the cable box...
When I had to exchange the cable box a few years ago, I lost that recording.

So you don't buy it because of the missing video intro?

Confused...

Is the entire pay per view show on this release (VIDEO )?
dvd or blue ray?, either one
Or is it audio cd only?

I love that version of WH, Ronnie does a good job and I like his melancholy guitar.

Ronnie is brilliant in this type of subtle playing, more of supporting the song then a leading solo.

This release is not bad at all, if only to get excellent versions of Going Down, Who Do You Love and Around And Around perfectly mixed. The sound is overall good, but, as someone else already noted, somehow sterile in places (notably The Last Time, while better than the "slow version" played in previous years, still sounds stiff and doesn't really take off). Low points for me are One More Shot that sounds incredibly contrived, constructed and forced and one can hear that Mick is not really into this one (it's definitely a Keith vocal melody and therefore should have been saved for Keith imo), and Midnight Rambler, that shows a somewhat still rusty Mick Taylor (no wonder because he was absent in the previous show), who despite some excellent licks here and there does not really "gel" with the rest of the band and therefore results in an overall performance short of it's usual natural flow.

I have a bootleg of the Newark, New Jersey, December 13, 2012 Show on DVD that I got at a Record Convention in Austin, TX in 2013.
I attended that show with my Daughter...Her First Time to see them!
She has seen them a total of 9 times now!
So of course, I was Super Excited to see a DVD of it.
It's professionally shot from different angles and has the whole show including the interviews with folks and the drumming gorillas in the audience.
Sound quality is Excellent...Amazing and it was only $10.00!!

GRRR! Live - a bit of a financial mountain (a.k.a. economics 1.0)

I went to my local record store here Down Under (Australia) yesterday to check out GRRR! Live.

The choices (to get the film) were:

DVD + 2CD - $AUD 50.99
BD + 2CD - $AUD 61.99

I faced that off with the fabulous Steel Wheels Atlantic City standalone DVD, still avalable for just $AUD 20.99, and wondered why we can't but just the Newark DVD on it own for a similar economical price.

It's not an entirely pleaseing state of affairs. Does anybody know if just the DVD is available?

Then there's that perennial matter of extra material on the Japan-only release. eye rolling smiley

They're certainly wanting a lot more for a lot less these days. The Atlantic City Steel Wheels Blu Ray should be worth a lot more than the New Jersey PPV.

I placed my order also through CDJapan.
Over the years I had placed various orders there (e.g. all Stones-Japan SACDs and more) and received a number of bonus points.
For "Grrr-Live" (DVD+2CD) I have now redeemed all these points and only paid about 32 € plus customs duties, which are then paid on delivery.
Delivery date for me is February 14th.

It's a contender for being the lowest point of this release and ultimately drags down the entire set, with Doom and Gloom being another low point.
Highlights for me include Midnight Rambler, Get Off My Cloud, Paint it Black, Dead Flowers, and Happy...along with Brown Sugar, JJF, and Satisfaction.

Springsteen sucks on TD. As does Lady Gaga. Uh. One More Shot is not convincing at all.
The Last Time, Going Down, Who Do You Love, YCAGWYW, Respectable and Around And Around are quite good.
