Over the years the Rolling Stones have had many special guests join them live on stage, who have been some of your favourites? And who would you like to see play with the Stones?

Only Buddy Guy and Taj Mahal spring to mind. Jeff Beck and Clapton were fine at the O2 shows as well but generally I don't think guests enhance their performance.

Really don't like it when guests show up.

Eric Clapton joining them for Champagne and Reefer at the London o2 in 2012 was pretty special. Jeff Beck joining them at the same venue was wonderful, too. From the same tour, John Mayer played well on Respectable.

Sheryl Crow was great in Tacoma, WA on the Licks tour. Excellent version of Honky Tonk Women.

Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton, Axel Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Angus & Malcolm Young, Sheryl Crow, Bruce Springsteen, that was a lot of fun for me.

Mayer surprised me...and so did Gary Clark jr....I liked Gaga too. Biggest disappointment was Mary J Blidge...I thought that she'd deliver a great GS...was ok....

I don't want any guests. I just want The Rolling Stones.

It is like adding lemonade to beer, they call it shandy. It just ruins the original product.

Having said that, I must say there were two great surprises this summer in Europe - Chanel Heynes on Gimme Shelter in Milan Italy, and the Ukranian children choir on You Can't Always Get What You Want in Vienna Austria.

Of the guests I've seen, Bonnie Raitt is the only one that added something vs. detracting.
The rest, including Dave Grohl, Gary Clark Jr., and John Mayer (who is a fine guitar player), were unnecessary distractions that diluted the experience.

I agree with bv in preferring no guests at all.

Here are a couple I saw that did a really good job.

Ed Sheeran on Beast in Kansas City 2015.

Aaron Neville on Under the Boardwalk in Philadelphia 2013 (a song which otherwise might never have been played).

I look at it as a "historic" moment... anyone on stage with The Rolling Stones is obviously there by invitation and approval of Mick... I'd guess Keith and Ronnie would let rip with anyone if Mick is good with it!

I've not had good luck with my personal tastes in special guests, but having seen Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift perform with The Stones, I will say they both did a good job and Mick seemed to enjoy it.

The SARS gig in Toronto in 2003 was right up my alley when Angus & Malcolm Young jammed on Rock Me Baby... sadly, so many of our classic Rock artists are gettin' on in age and maybe get overlooked at times as a potential guest.

Bring on all comers I say! It makes that show that much more unique!
