No, this wasn’t in regular circulation at all. The only TOTP performance on Honky Tonk Woman in circulation was the ‘Christmas Special’ version, which I recollect is in colour. This B&W version pre-dates it and is - as far as I’m aware - only circulating as a feature in this European programme. Is it from Denmark or Sweden. The original BBC version is evidently ‘lost’, alongside alongside everything else that was wiped from the archives in the 60’s. An absolute shame.

NDR is German television. The announcer speaks German too. He says the song has been 5 weeks number one and is now number two!

The audio had been circulating on bootleg, but not very commonly.

Another ‘lost’ TOTP appearance to surface is them miming to 19th Nervous Breakdown; although it’s only a snippet from a feature in another programme I think. I’m sure it’s been posted here.

Aren’t Mick and Keith wearing the same clothes in this video asthey wore for the photo shoot for Through the Past Darkly in May1969

I know that some don't like the miming over backing tracks, but I really like some performances like that such as this one. I think Jagger is spot on, and it is really cool to hear little inflections where none exist on record. The Beatles did an amazing Revolution on David Frist in August of 1968 like this.

Weren’t they also recording I Don’t Know Why, when they suddenly got the phone-call? Quite the day, I must say.

According to Nzentgraf there are two versions of the recording.

690703A 3rd July: UK TV (BBC1) 'Top Of The Pops' , London, BBC Studio G.
- Honky Tonk Women 1 (MJ/KR) -probably live vocals on a prepared backing track
- Honky Tonk Women 2 (MJ/KR) -probably live vocals on a prepared backing track
Note: Version 1 was televised on the 10th, 17th and 31st July.
Version 2 was televised on the 7th, 14th and 21st August.
At least one of these versions has a different ending to the 7"-version.
