Rest in Peace Ma’am, thank you for your service to our country.

I was honoured to serve you for twenty years and as you were the head of my regiment, for me and my comrades you will always be the Boss.

Sad news indeed. End of an era. Her final act was to send Boris off to pasture.
Charles has big shoes to fill.

Not a surprise given her age and the passing of Prince Philip though. I was worried t was going to happen right before the Hyde Park shows but she made it a few more months.

My thoughts are with all my friends in United Kingdom.

Even if Queen Elisabeth II was old, 96 years old, and she has been there all my life, her passing was still not expected.

Queen Elisabeth II was always so well dressed and colourful, I added a picture of her to this thread, in respect and with love.

What a long and remarkable life of service to her country, may she be at peace.

Here’s a nice story about her that shines a light on her character:

Making it to 96 is wonderful. Most of us don’t. Maybe King Charles will Knight Keith Richards.

Not quite! Her final act was appointing Boris’s successor later the same day, Liz Truss. Both are bound to secrecy by protocol. The Moderator of the Church of Scotland visited her at Balmoral on Sunday and he said that though she was frail, she was very upbeat, alert and on the ball mentally.

Liz Truss had her first weekly audience with King Charles at Buckingham Palace today, 3 days after being appointed by his mother, 500 miles North in Balmoral. Personally, that would freak me out.

The Queen loved Scotland and seemingly wanted to spend her final days there, which she clearly knew were coming but was still carrying out important duties right to the end. What a remarkable and devoted woman.

The Stones were mentioned in The New York Times obituary of Her Majesty here

"The 1960s heralded “Swinging London,” with a new permissiveness and culture built around bands like the Beatles (honored by the queen in 1965) and the Rolling Stones."

^ That's what I meant when I posted sending Boris off to pasture. She did her job to the very end. She will be missed.

Waiting for an official Rolling Stones statement. Rip Elizabeth II †

Not if Keith has a veto, ha. Something from Mick maybe.

Well, Keith and the Queen had something in common: neither liked Mick's knighthood.

Plus isn't some sort of urban legend that Keith was singing in Westminister Abbey when she got her crown?

- Doxa
I guess Mick enjoyed pissing everyone off.

Great story! From an almost 70 year old American woman, RIP Queen Elizabeth. You've been here all my life.

Great Britain without the Queen - hard to imagine for many of us also living outside the UK.

If we allow patriotism not to be exclusive, there's definitely a share of that feeling belonging to the UK and its history, I think that applies to many of us here. After all we've been there countless times, and it is the kingdom that bore our beloved Rolling Stones. What shaped them indirectly shaped us or at least affected us.

I think that the main reason the Queen's death is getting this amazing global attention is the fact that she was the Queen for so many people all over the world, regardless of their location or nationality, and the related sensations were always positive.

I'm actually quite surprised there's been no concert tribute for our Queen, this is the one time I'd thought musicians from the United Kingdom and those involved with the music industry would have got together for a concert.

I'd love to have a reunited Sex Pistols (or whatever they can cobble together) come up for a round of God Save The Queen, and why not for old times sake, Anarchy in the UK?

HEY! And the tribute the Queen could be headlined by...are you ready for it?...think hard...who could it be?

THAT'S RIGHT....a Freddie Mercury-less QUEEN!

Oh dear. You are clearly forgetting that in 2002 for the Queen's Jubilee that year, that the entire show - based around Buckingham Palace - was opened by Brian May on top of the Palace, playing the National Anthem.

A rock'n'roll moment that is very hard to beat.
