OT: Judith Durham RIP

Judith Durham of The Seekers has passed away at age 79. Don't have any of their albums but have seen a few of their vids on Youtube. What a great voice she had. I believe they shared the stage with the Stones at one of the NME shows back in the 60s. Rest In Peace.

I thought the BBC news wasn't going to even mention it when I saw this sad news, but later on today there was a nice remembrance of her passing on the BBC News Channel.
A lovely, beautiful person, with a beautiful voice.
God Bless you Judith, and Rest in Peace.

Another 60’s icon gone. Born 3 July, 1943 — in the same month and year as Mick.

Love Georgy Girl, both song and film. Saw the classic 1966 b & w film at Stockport Plaza, one of the few remaining venues that retain the exterior and decor of the lovely traditional English music hall, about ten years ago. Prior to the showing, a gentleman wearing a bow tie played Georgy Girl with the organ on the stage — a favorable memory.

RIP Ms. Durham

[Trivia: do you know the song Georgy Girl used on the film is an alternative version with different lyrics?]

Yet another different lyrics at the end of the original trailer:

…and the all too familiar popular hit version:

Riffin' Boy loved Judith .....
Adored the way she sang .... "Now that is a voice" he always preached ....

It was death before dishonor Stones for me and we
stirred each other over about who was the greatest .......

Then Seekers recorded at Abbey Road.. knocked The Stones
offa the top of theeeee charts with Never Find Another You .....

Man he canned me over and over with that one ... had nowhere ta turn ...

ALL great harmless fun ..... Some of the best laughs in my life ......

Riffin' Boy woulda been first at the Pearly Gates when she walked thru yesterday

The music I heard a lot on AM Radio in the early 70's, beautiful songs, wonderful harmonies.

Great Band and a beautiful voice. Georgy Girl was one of the first pieces of music
I owned - must have been about seven years old at the time. It was a cassette- I think I about wore it out. Thanks Judith for your wonderful talent!
