Doubtful. Dua Lipa is big enough of an act in her own right.

So were Kanye West and Maroon 5 but they both opened for the band.

2023 will be telling in regard to how much longer they'll be able to continue. Clearly not much longer. Probably mostly because of Keith and his fingers with arthritis.

But at 14 or so shows a year...

Still doubt there will be a kind of LA/Vegas/Chicago/NYC etc set up that reeks of the last tour. A kind of 'the obvious' without official word.

1981 tour finished in Virginia.
1982 tour finished in Leeds.
1989 tour finished in New Jersey.
1990 tour finished in London.
1994 tour finished in Vancouver.
1995 tour finished in Rotterdamn.
1997 tour finished in St Louis.
1998 tour finished in Istanbul.
1999 tour finished in Cologne.
2002 tour finished in Las Vegas.
2003 tour finished in Hong Kong.
2005 tour finished in Memphis.
2006 tour finished in Vancouver.
2007 tour finished in London.

Not exactly forshadowing anything. Still a recording band for the most part.

Since then? Just a playing band, with very little recording. There's only one date that is memorable, really, and that is in Miami on 8-30-2019, Charlie's last show.

Keith's fingers have been an issue for years and this hasn't stopped him from playing nor the band from touring. You are jumping to conclusions.

plexi

plus berlin and a few of the final show from last summer showed keith still can play pretty good when he needs/wants to

how long at his age he can keep it up is anybodys guess

but i'd be more worried about ronnie and his sadly likley coming recurrence of lung cancer as the real end for the band in the hopefully not to near future

PW, why do you say that it is a likely coming recurrence?

because the type of cancer he has had twice already is very agressive and very difficult to get rid of entirely and has a high rate of recurrences

hopefully i'm wrong and he beats the odds

his girls deserve to have there father for as long as they can

Au contraire. Keith's arthritis has been an issue. There has been a big degradation in his playing since 2005. More so than anyone else. They keep going, yes. And, not surprisingly, you took what I said out of context.

It's not like it got any worse in the last ten years. This year his playing was even better tham the years before.

Keith had improved massively in my opinion. But the band also had more magic recently for me. Those brussels, paris and berlin night where magic for me. Pure magic. Which causes my dilema if i should end on this high or go to the usa next year. Will be very very very hard to beat those experiences

He stopped smoking and drinking. That has a huge impact, mostly the drinking of alochol. But... even so, enough damage was done. He'll be 79 soon. We're not looking at 30 more years, it's 3 years... if possible.

Good point. Not a single US show sold out on the last tour here, except the small casino show. They would have better luck going to cities they haven’t hit in years. They probably will play it safe with NYC & LA, but if they did new US cities, here is how my 2023 North America Spring Tour would look like:

Vancouver
Salt Lake City
San Diego
Orlando
Memphis
Kansas City
Cleveland
Minnesota
Baltimore
Montreal

The Stones don't price tickets to sellout, otherwise, the secondary market makes too much money. Tickets are priced to get the highest average ticket possible, which is why every stadium show they do grosses north of $10M

I think the most logical thing is Las Vegas residency instead of regular tour. Just think about it: with skyrocketting travel costs and gas prices it's way better to book 15 shows in Las Vegas and perform there with maybe PPV web streams instead of touring America or Europe in 2023. It would make sense for everybody.

Please exclude me here! I would prefer a residency at my local pub!

I totally agree a Vegas residency makes sense. But I think the Stones actually like being on the road and going to different cities and would be bored quickly staying in one place

A residency ain’t gonna happen as boys like going different places. A announcement I think is Jan or Feb if they start May /June.

Vegas is hell on Mick's voice. I don't think he is moving there for an extended period. However I would add another Allegiant Stadium gig to likely shows if they tour the US in the spring.

btw: when was the last time the Stones played three or more shows in row at the same place? 2003?(between the first two and the second London show in 2018 there was a four week gap).

The final three gigs at the O2 in London in 2007, perhaps?

EDIT: Paris 2017, it is.

Chicago 2013

Chicago 2013 wasnt a "large venue/stadium" that slewan is looking for. It was United Center.

Then again, the Paris venue, La Défense Arena, is essentially a roofed rugby stadium that holds 40K for concerts, much bigger than an "arena"

When you're only playing 14 shows at a time now, which btw I totally understand, more than 2 shows in now city doesn't make sense unless they go the residency route but I can't see them doing that.

If Paris 17 doesn't count it's probably La Plata 2016 and Tokyo 2014.

If they need three days between shows while on tour, then I don’t think the seating capacity or size of the venue is a factor for the number of days in between each show. I would think the “off days” would be the same for a stadium as
it would for a arena.
