It's not going to be called, "No Country for Old Men"

I am sure they will come up with a great tour/album title,

Hopefully a bit more of an inspiring album title than 'A Bigger Bang', 'Grrrr', or 'Honk'

I thought ‘A Bigger Bang’ was OK, but in hindsight, meh. The latter-two are terrible, I agree.

I would think Atlanta will be on the U.S. tour list and possibly another city in the south if the tour does come to North America.

Yes, please!

They played Atlanta Nov 11, 2021 i.e. less than a year ago. Even if I loved Atlanta and the show there last year, I am sure there are other cities in the USA to choose from next year.

They'll probably do a 2 year tour with the new album title... and then maybe do one more tour with a title similar to TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE and that will be it, probably not with London or NYC being the last show but just as they would end any previous tour, Austria, somewhere in England or Holland.

By then Mick and Keith will be 82 or so.

Reality will be much harsher then than now and even now has been showing hints of being harsh.

It's almost over. The remaining time will go by fast.

Yeah, at their age, one year is a massive amount of time. As I always say, we have been so lucky we don't realize it. We take things for granted.

"A Bigger Bang" was promoted with a tour of 148 shows, lasting for 26 months, from July 2005 (Toronto rehearsals) until August 2007 (O2 London UK). Mick and Keith were just over 60 years old, full of energy.

The new album and tour next year will be 18 years later vs the release of "A Bigger Bang". Mick and Keith will both be in their 80's by the end of next year. Several sources I trust are indicating a tour start in North America in the spring of 2023, just like decades of previous tours with new studio album releases. I assume they will do 14 or so shows, mainly in USA, but probably 1-2 shows in Canada as well.

Then we will see what the rest of 2023 and 2024 will bring us, probably shows in Europe, but hopefully shows in Japan, Australia and a few other places as well. If we are lucky, we may have 15-30 shows during 2023-2024. We do all know their age, as well as other touring challenges these days.

I do still remember the very first question at the 1997 press conference in New York City. Mick asked the first question himself: "Is this gonna be your last tour?" We do all know the answer to that question.

We have all been so extremely lucky since 2012. A new tour and studioalbum 2023/2024 is incredible if it happens.

However, I still remember Keith answering that question: "yes and the next five" eye popping smiley

But luckely you shouldn't take Keith too seriously when he's being interviewed grinning smiley

If you look at their touring history 2012 to 2022, you will see they like to have a gap of 6-12 months between sets of 14 shows.

In 2016 they did 14 shows in Latin America Feb/Mar, then 4 shows (5 scheduled) half a year later in USA. The 2019 USA tour was done with 17 shows, rescheduled from April 20 to June 21, the tour success is a proof of how great they are at making tours happen, despite of Mick's medical procedure, and the hurricane challenges in New Orleans and Miami.

Then the 2020 USA tour was delayed due to the pandemic, 15 shows originally announced for 2020 turned into 13+2 shows during Sept-Nov 2021.

The 2022 European tour with 14 shows happened mostly during June-July 2022, with a gap of just 6 months from the tour in USA 2021. One show lost (Bern) was replaced by an additional show in Berlin.

The way they approve new tours is a mix of history, insurance/risk, travel, pleasure and marketing. They get older, they need rest, but they do still enjoy being in front of large crowds. It takes a month of rehearsals to get ready, and 14 seems to be a good number of shows for a tour. Then add a new album to be promoted in 2023, and you have the formula of another great touring year.

In 1997 they were late with the album, Blessed Poison, then renamed to Bridges To Babylon, they rushed co-credits to k.d. lang on Anybody Seen My Baby, even in they did not have to, time was short, and the single and tour was coming up.

In 2005 they announced the "On Stage" tour at a press conference May 10. One month later they mixed the new album in LA, but the tour and album title "A Bigger Bang" was a big secret until tour start.

For 2023 they have the opportunity to release both the album and the new tour, without having to rush things. I am sure their marketing, PR and the band's own wishes will give us another great tour or two, most probably in the major markets, but who knows, if we are lucky, they should be able to tour the entire world during 2023-2024, given health and world economy is on our side.

Thank You very much for the analysis.

For fun, I'm totally guessing here on the 2023 North America tour cities:

Vancouver, CAN
Buffalo, NY
NYC/NJ
Boston, MA
Chicago, IL
Milwaukee, WI
Portland, OR
OKC, OK
Cincinnati/Cleveland, OH
Louisville, KY
Phoenix, AZ
Indianapolis, IN
Sacramento, CA

Those in the know, are you automatically ruling any of these out, and, if so, why?

Would imagine that it would primarily be the major markets consistent with the 2019 tour (obviously some minor changes, could see Vancouver getting a gig).

Maybe New Orleans and Jacksonville becomes Vancouver and Orlando and the rest stays the same in terms of cities covered (change Rose Bowl to 1 night at Sofi even having played there in 2021?)

San Francisco Bay Area got skipped in 2021 so hopefully we get a Northern California date! Levi's was OK...I'd take the Coliseum over it though just because it has so much more Stones history

I hope so too. Depends on schedule.

In regards to the previous posts I doubt Sacramento as there isn't a suitable venue and please not at Oakland Coliseum. Not a fan of Levi Stadium but still better than Oakland.

Yes, there are many other cities that they could choose from but I still believe Atlanta will again be one of the cities. Tampa, Birmingham, Baton Rouge, Oklahoma City, Little Rock, Memphis and many others around the south and southeast would all be decent choices. Only time will tell however.

I love the idea of US/Canada in the spring. I'm reserving all personal travel planning until we know more. I hope European dates will be later in the fall...better weather and less tourists.
