The release of their album "A Bigger Bang" was supported by a two years worldwide tour of 148 shows during Aug. 2005 to Aug. 2007. Ronnie is leaking a lot of their plans actually, a 50 years package i.e. Sticky Fingers to current, another tour, and a new album. So I assume they will do major cities worldwide next year.

So you are saying they might return to their old touring model just with fewer shows and just doing the major cities?

So north America, then Tokyo, a few shows in Australia/NZ and then some in Europe?

I've long thought that Mick , Keith and the Stones "machine" are quite happy with Ronnie's typical "leaks" and indiscretions.

It gets folks talking and builds expectation ...

...but if things didn't work out, it'd just be Ronnie's big gob to blame for the disappointment grinning smiley

hm, a 50 years package? Sticky Fingers? Might make more sense to release all the live 1972 stuff since it will otherwise becoming public domain after the end of 2022

A worldwide tour is an excellent idea! May the good lord continue to shine a light on them and their loyal fans. The Stones are a shining light in a world that needs it.

Could be an interesting concept.

Arena or Stadiums?

They used to do 75 or so shows per year during tours 15-30 years ago. Now the standard is 14 shows per year. Mick and Ronnie have got children age 5-6 years old. I am not sure if they want to spend all year touring, at a time when their children are supposed to build a "normal" life. A short worldwide tour would make more sense. They do need to market the new album, but they do not have the capacity to perform in lots of places across the world anymore.

bv, do you suppose they'll stretch beyond the 14 show per-year format? Perhaps 30 shows across the globe? 14 shows doesn't leave much to go around.

pardon me but do you think they'll split this tour up through the year with some shows in japan and australia in spring and then the americas and europe in summer?

or do you think this will all happen at once this summer or spring?

and thanks for weighing in on all this

it looks like 2023 is gonna be one hell of a year to be a stones fan and things here on iorr are gonna get really excitinggrinning smiley

i look forward to your reports and pictures from the forthcoming shows

Yes. Exactly what I said Ronnie said 2 days ago. That Ronnie had said a 50 year package. Everyone else reckoned he said 15 years. I thought my hearing was ok, but everyone had me doubting myself.

But why a 50-year package when you just celebrated 60?

I wonder if it'll be an outtakes set? I'm thinking about all that was leaked a few years ago.

Yeah, I mean, B.B. King used to perform sitting in a chair in his last touring years. And he did it until he was, what, 88? 89?

But Gerard is right, it's a lot different.

sorry, can you imagine mick on a stool? the good and the beautiful of the stones, are the physicality, the sensuality of the movements, break into the stage as only he can do in the 90 meters of the stage for 2 hours .. otherwise I prefer to live on memories with my 50 concerts seen so far , it will seem that I am not predisposed to change, but today unfortunately I cannot do what I did 30 years ago, it is an awareness that time passes ... everything these guys will give us will be a bonus, they no longer have to prove anything to none ... no albums or anything else ... it's my humble thought ... keep on rolling all of you ... spin the turntable and enjoy them ...sorry my english ..

Pearl jam sitting down for their first 4-5 songs these days - and they’re in their mid 50s, no biggie

When I saw Pearl Jam in Krakow this July they didn't sit down (as in the whole band sitting down) at any point.

I guess you're talking about their September show at the Apollo, but that was a special theater show with lots of B-sides and rare stuff.

simply because of EU copyright laws. Any recording that has not been commercially used within 50 years becomes public domain. So the deadline to release stuff from 1972 is Dec 31, 2022 (midnight)

They didn’t at Hyde park either - but Amsterdam onwards following eddie’s throat issues the remaining US dates started seated

Btw - jealous of krakow had tickets for original (2020?)show but had to skip rearranged date

nice info.

What recordings have not been used commercially though?

Simon Boyle's piece in The Sun report also mentioned the US - "I’m told another major tour, likely to include US, South American and European dates will likely follow the 2023 release."

They'll could touring South America in february/March (Or Japan/Australia/NZ) and US and Canada in the fall(October/November).
Then in Spring/Summer 2024 they'll could touring Europe and if they'll need touring Japan/Aussie/NZ in Feb./March 2025 and Europe 2nd leg in September/October with last gigs in London.
This is a good scenario in my opinion.
New album out in February/March 2023

They haven't played 20 shows in a year since 2014. Hard to see them playing more than one continent a year, at this stage in their lives. Hope I'm wrong!

different continents shouldn't be their most urgent problem. It's rather the number of shows per year. (During the usual one week break in the middle of their tour they could easily switch from Europe to the US or vice versa).

If they finally release their album and follow it up by covering 3 continents in one 14 show tour then you’d imagine that would finally be it after that. Mick and Keith are both 80 next year. It would be a high note to end on and makes sense.
