I’ve read this piece before: a great story and one deserving of attention. As the Stones had dozens of opening acts, it’s quite likely they did indeed open for them at some point. Bill’s Rolling with the Stones book probably gives them a mention if so.

Page 91 of Bill's book mentions the Liverbirds as one of the 30 bands that opened for them on their UK tour from Nov 63 to early Jan 64.
