It's funny how official photographers only work on the first few songs when they could get so many fantastic shots later on.

They are escorted in and escorted out by a band or venue rep. No option to stay longer. The band is aware of their presence and makes the appropriate poses during those first 2 or 3 songs.

They often have to leave after the first few songs.

I imagine there's a rule but do you actually think they have to leave? In that case a reviewer could consider himself lucky

the reason that they leave so soon is very simple: They have to leave early to get their fotos into next morning's (printed) newspapers

it's a rule mostly to protect the fans and band from having photographers in front of them all the time.

haha – I like your romantic believes

it's at most shows, also for example for warm up bands, or early gigs at festivals where paper deadline won't matter.

The reason they leave so soon is, that they are only allowed to shoot 3 songs. There is nothing funny about that. That's the business and an universal rule. With some bands they are not even allowed into the front pit and have to shoot from where the sound mixer is located. Trust me, most of them would stay for the whole show, if they would be allowed to do so. Twisted Sister had that annoying habit to often let photographers stay in the pit throughout the show. I hated that. You stand there all day at festivals, to be at the front row and then the photographers come in and stand in front of you and won't leave. Shoot 'em down to the @#$%& ground never seemed more appropriate.

The large number of local photographers do get escorted in and out on for couple of songs at show start. Then the Stones hire pro photographers who shoot for them, usually one or two, they work through the shows, and they do these magnificent pictures we see published on the wire.

Maybe it is all ready said here. But the intro of Fool to Cry yesterday sounded a bit like the intro of Memory Motel to me.

Different chords, different riff, different key. However, the sound and feel is similar indeed.

Only 4 (/19) tracks from the Ronnie Wood Era yesterday !

It must make Ronnie feel like he's playing in a tribute band for a majority of the show.
A total 15 songs that he originally had nothing to do with, but he seems to be a good sport about it all while giving it his best shot.

Well Berlin, it wasn't perfection, it was something much greater than that, it was Keith Richards in the mood to Rock.

For decades, the "3 song rule" has been standard protocol. The publicists who issue photo credentials inform the photographers in advance. It is very unusual for a photographer not employed by the performer(s) to be allowed to shoot longer.

Orion, I was just calling out to enjoy every show as if it were the last. Instead of qualifying my potential 'could' as fake news, you could have kindly replied that you were given the hand of God that told you there will be a next time.

So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste.

Looking forward to the next chapter.

Whether it's true or not, contracts being signed is not an absolute guarantee of anything.

As damnation stated, this could be the last time...."could" being the key word.

Hope it's not the last time, but you never know this late in the game...the future's uncertain, and the end is always near...

So true, let us hope !
The end is sure near ... but not now.

By the way, another notable moment on the Keith-Set was that he said "Guten Abend" at the very beginning!
Has Keith ever spoken German on stage before?
I can't remember ever hearing that at my German concerts....

Mine will be up soon - uploading but slow

Note: very shaky some of the vids.. My compadres next to me jumping up and down, me jumping up and down etc - but you will probably enjoy parts of it particularly my fun fun fun gal pals creating some great fun

We are all on the rail.. much narrower stage and shorter catwalk meant way less rail space - we lined up very early, had a very hot and sweaty day waiting often in direct blistering sun and show was very very hot.. WORTH IT

You've done a great job mate, definitely worth it, cheers John.

Yes, you have, dnewton! Just finished watching "Fool to Cry." Thanks so much for your filming.
