I'm 34 so I never heard the original one. I am used to the 1CD and 2CD versions and I would miss the songs not available in the original LP!
Overrated.
Who’s version would The Who have heard before covering this?
Mose Alison's original.
There is a boot of The Who doing this song in a fashion closer to Alison's from 1964. They revived it in late 68 closer to its Leeds form.
Pete must have just taken the piano parts and played them on guitar in that case?
A band at the peak. Moon just kicked that band along brilliantly. How he would play off all 3 of the members was something unique, at times it was Rogers vocal he followed, others it was Townshends Guitar and other times he would follow John, and on that album he does it all in the same song most songs. A sympathetic musician for sure.
Live at Leeds is one of the great live albums.
To me it is overrated, but so is also The Who.
To quote Noel Gallagher “you look at the who and everyone’s playing lead, lead bass playing, lead drumming, and a lead guitarist. The best Who is live who for me.
If you're talking about the studio version of Sticky Fingers, it's the only latter day Stones record where Bill is on every track. It helps make the album perhaps their highest regarded recording. He really powers Bitch.
I was referring to the Live at Leeds release on the Fingers Deluxe, apologies.
But you’re spot on with the comments re the record. Bill gave Bitch that bit of raunchy cheeky pulse.
I fear that this could indeed be the case, but who knows? It also could have been just a teaser and one day, out of the blue, we will get the complete show "from long thought lost and only recently rediscovered tapes" (usual record industry promo blah!)...
...just hope the timespan will be shorter than between the release of "Love You Live" and the entire "Live At The El Mocambo 1977"!

I got a little (lot) baked last Thursday night and listened to this in full (the fingers release) Wyman really stood out for some reason. He’s a little acknowledged part of the what powered the band back then. His bass is just throbbing along in the same spot each song, somewhere in a pocket that’s not exactly with Charlie and not exactly with Keith. Somehow he gave the songs a pulse more than a beat. Charlie obviously was half of the heartbeat, but him and Wyman are on the money at this gig.

I have to think Roundhouse tapes have to be damaged or missing and they only had what they released in great quality. It makes no sense otherwise
