July 25, 1972 was my very first Stones show (total so far is 103). I was 18 at the time. Here are some artifacts from my scrap book to recognize the 50 year anniversary. It would be hard to imagine at that time that I would care 50 years later or that The Rolling Stones would still be playing as a band, albeit with just 2 of the members on stage that night.

A 2:30 show and one at 8:00. Loved how they use to do that.

I think that NYT review nails it with regard to Jagger's footwork and prance/dance moves. "cakewalking" . . . "choreographed coherence". Check out the video link above at around 11:25 min.

Looking back, and trying to recall how I felt after my first Stones show, I was the most surprised by how much Mick T had taken over the lead guitar role and how good a dancer Mick J was. Remember of course there was no internet or cell phones, so I wasn't even sure of the setlist other than the opening and closing tunes, BS and SFM. I was aware of the other tunes but did not really know in what order and still have the scrap of paper on which I wrote down the song titles in shorthand as they were played. I was disappointed that HTW was not in the set and still wonder why.

I got my 5th row seat through the ticket lottery and began wondering if some sort of RnR god was smiling on me.

50 years ago . . . damn.

Hello Professor - I would be pleased to let you use my photos. I do have several more amateurish photos from this show and the 1975 MSG shows.

In return, I would love to know more about or see the finished DVD you are planning. Some of my artifacts from Paradiso 1995 were used in the "Stripped" deluxe package in which I was quite honored to see my actual name in the credits. My best photos are from 1981 and have been posted in the "1981 Wardrobe" thread.

Perhaps we need to discuss in a private email exchange.

Fantastic to see this, especially Houseboy and his photo and news clipping. Alive but too young to be aware of this period contemporaneously it is great to see what the reaction was at the time.

Never paid full attention to this late July 25, 1972 show, certaintly because of Welcome to NY recorded the day after

Midnight Rambler had this day a 3'20"" intro! Even they did'nt do that during the 1971 tour. My, they are so much teasing the audience, Keith's intro is so liberating.
