who was the opening act tonight?

Ayron Jones (unknown to me)

he did a very good version of Hendrix' Voodoo Chile

He's a blues (basically) guitarist from Seattle. He's been putting records out on his own although I think his latest is out on Stone Gossard's (Pearl Jam) label. He's very good. I've seen him a few times including opening for Jeff Beck at the zoo before COVID. He held his own with Jeff which is saying something.

I liked Ayron Jones a lot, too.

I really like him.To me his sound is somewhere between Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana which is really interesting. He opened last year in Detroit as well

Just watched the video of Chuck’s attempt to use his feet in HTW - poor guy, I really felt for him, missed the first time but then, in a supreme effort of will, managed to get one toe onto the keyboard for a spilt second. I loved Dean Goldman’s description of it in his review. Maybe old Chuck needs to take up yoga to improve his flexibility.

In his defence Chuck is 70, and there may not be much room for him to raise his leg and turn his ankle. I'd probably give up before starting.

Maybe he should replace the leg lift with a headbutt.

Silver dagger, that version of Rambler you caught there just blew my head clean off. Absolutely incredible.... And quite different from what they did with it at Hyde Park. My god, the song is ALIVE ...

The seventh gig of the tour for me and for me the best one I’ve seen so far. Cant remember the last time I enjoyed a stones gig so much. The band were amazing and were clearly up for it. The sound was crisp and clearly audible. The audience were in good spirits for the whole show.

Only gripe was the venue location. Left my hotel in Paris at 6:45pm and took my place in the Gold Circle at 9:10pm, with no stopovers en route! Getting out was an issue and managed to navigate my way back to the hotel for 2am.

This is a show I will definitely remember, though not sure I will rush back to the Hippodrome anytime soon………

That got me thinking, what's gonna happen when Chuck is too old to be the musical director ?! Is Matt going to step in ? He's getting on with years too but must be around 60, going by him being close to 30 during SW when Mick pinched him from that Yes offshoot and, Bruford, Howe, Wakeman and something.

This tour has been Keith's triumphant return.
That's exactly what people said last year.

Correct. I was one of them who said that. Then Keith went and dug even deeper on this tour and got even tighter and sharper than last year. He's been more consistent and tighter this time around. Quite wonderful to witness.

The Stones were amazing. It was my fourth show this tour and they were at their top last night.
But.. the organization at the Paris show was a bloody shame. Unbelievable chaos, Total amateur. I will never attend a show at the Hippodrome again.
