Well, there are billions of galaxies with billions of star in them.

So, statistically it's (IMHO) the height of arrogance to assume that we are the only planet in all of those galaxies on which intelligent (!) life has evolved.

So, my answer would be 'probably'.

Cindy's posting was actually a reference to [en.wikipedia.org] and if you read down to the section on Depictions in culture you'll see the origin of those four words. <expletive> brilliant.

Personally I hope that humanity declines any interraction with any other sentient beings we may discover who do not send back that exact first reply.

Absolutely amazing Professor. Thanks so much for sharing. Making it out to space is the #1 item on my Life List. Even if I have to live out my remaining years in a cardboard box, that memory of looking down on our planet from the blackness of space can never be taken from me.

And I too believe there are most definitely other life forms out there. Just way too big a place for there not to be.

Bigger Bang .....

Maybe the James Webb telescope discovers, that our Universe is not what it has been assumed to be for a Century. Maybe we're the result of a massive super black hole eruption (yep, Rockman, an -even- Bigger Bang) and maybe there are (have been) other massive black holes outside our Universe?

Ah well, it's only rock 'n' roll and we like it, don't we? confused smiley

Incredible how they know the facts about the distance away from us, and what these images are.

The next pictures should be even farther back in time. I’m anticipating they will show Mick and Keith in grade school. smiling smiley

When aliens one day decifer the lyrics of "2000 thousand light years from home" they will smile and maybe say "nice guys those Rolling Stones, but no perception of time". Why? Because they would probably enjoy the music of that great song 2 billion light years from earth.

NO PERCEPTION OF TIME? They've been around for 60 years now ... and still counting grinning smiley

Time waits for no one, but but time doesn't exist in space, so why bother cool smiley

Thanks for posting professor

The Hubble Legacy Field is a part of the sky about as big as the sun or moon. Astronomers have identified approx 265k galaxies in it. Let that sink in.

“The universe is way bigger than you think”…
