Remembering Brian today July 3
Posted by: Silver Dagger ()
Date: July 3, 2022 08:01

Please can we all remember Brian today, on the day of his passing 53 years ago.

I hope that Mick will pay tribute to his former colleague as well as Charlie today at Hyde Park. Bless you Brian - forever in our hearts.

Please post your favourite Brian memories, videos or photos.

Here's one of mine - punk was still 13 years away but here it is in the early 60s. Brian's guitar is absolutely ferocious.

I couldn't choose a better song.

Thanks, Brian!

RIP Brian, thank you for the music.

The TAMI show... Still Hungry and the camera shows some great shots from behind Brian where you can see the physicality in his playing.

It was, but since when should technicalities get in the way of a good song? winking smiley

It’s very-much a ‘Brian-era’ recording in every sense. He may not be in it, but as with all their mid-60’s work, he’s all over it spiritually. You can’t help but picture Brian when listening to all that wonderful music.

Absolutely but I just stumbled upon this video - which I'd never seen - this morning and thought I'd share it as it has Brian in it.

Don’t hold your breath. Mick didn’t mention Brian in D.C. on July 3, 2019 on the 50th anniversary of his death. And they even played Mercy, Mercy, a sure nod to Brian.

Would be nice if Mick say a few words about Brian tonight. And that they dedicate the show to him and Charlie. RIP Brian.

Given what happened to the first lot of butterflies (most died before they could be released), I'd rather they didn't try that again.

given the venue and the date i'd find it odd if at least something wasn't said to acknowledge it

but not gonna be surprised if he doesn't

How recent is that photo of Bill? And where is Brian buried?? Would be great if Mick acknowledged Brian especially since they are playing Hyde Park on this day.

Must admit that is one thing that has always bothered me about the band. How they try and white wash their history. It’s such a rich one and it’s as if they want to re-tell some of it and somehow forget those involved that helped get them here today.

Course I say that and I think about how often they comment about Charlie, and how they brought back Mick T for certain spots as well…..

I guess it’s pick and choose really.

2015.
Cheltenham Cemetery.

It is odd that more than half a century later, they still seem to harbor such resentment, or are seemingly so threatened by a guy who's been gone more than 50 years that they can't seem to acknowledge such an occasion simply by saying something to the effect of "this one's for Brian."

But whatever.

9 years ago I thought it was a no-brainer to have butterfly-shaped confetti made. There was confetti but it was red and flower-shaped

Love the bits of Brian’s background vocals that can be heard on I wanna be your man.

Didn't he do the vocals on the version of Oldham's 16 Hip Hits?!
