Ronnie.

Really, always thought it was Keith, it was a bit clumsy like Keith and more soulful than one of Ronnie's at the time, thanks for clarifying DP, got to say i'm disappointed though but pleased for Ronnie, the boy did good winking smiley

Terrible, throw away song. Too many on the album. The drums are badly recorded too.

One mans meat is another mans poison, that is absolutely my favorite track on the album, it's brave, intense and soulful.

Yes, great tune. A bit outside of what they'd normally play. A bit of a Mick solo-ish sounding song.

Thanks. A more emotionally evocative solo than most of Ronnie’s.

Loooooooooove this song. It’s somewhat political and thought-provoking in a soulful way. Very much outside of their norm. Just fantastic stuff.

A beautiful song!
Sweethearts Together is also wonderfully played, but with slightly more corny lyrics, so I put Blinded By Rainbows ahead of it.

Sweethearts together is a Stones classic
Maybe one day we get the Glimmers sharing a microphone and singing this live

The ballads on Voodoo are excellent, the rockers not so much.Out of Tears is aclassic. Blinded by Rainbows has great lyrics . Sweethearts Together is great Tex mex song.

Great song! Mick is most emotional, too.

Blinded By Rainbows EARLY TAKE 1993

Mick Jagger wrote this while he was working on his third solo album Wandering Spirit. Said Jagger: "I was sort of halfway through with it, and I thought, 'Well, this would be better suited to The Rolling Stones' next album.' It was all kind of in my head, rather than written down. But you know, it's pretty strong. I think it's good to have one like that on the record, it shakes you up a bit. Otherwise all the songs are about girls and cars and immaturity."

Strong tune somewhat marred by production choices. Mick going for Pops Staples tremelo sound doesn’t work as well as what you hear on the demo. And there’s some synth accompaniment that’s kind of distracting. Same with Thru and Thru.

Good point, didn't love the rockers as much, a bit rote.

The drums on VOODOO were recorded fantastically.

Ronnie's solo is excellent.

The song? They've got many much worse.

So, it's in the Undercover/Dirty Work drawer? There's too many songs on Voodoo, some especially bad ones. My god Bill's timing was impeccable, just not on bass, but knowing when to leave.

Well, with leaving in mind, he left 10 years too late. Nothing vital for him after 1982.

Too many songs on Voodoo??? Do we rail about how many songs are on the fabled Exile!?!? Back in the day we woulda welcomed 100 songs from our boys. Now everything is too bloated or too long or not enough quality songs.

For Voodoo, it’s an absolute masterpiece. The crown jewel of their cannon written by a group of men still with something to prove to the world - that they were still the baddest mofo’s in rock and still were the greatest rock and roll band in the world. The guitars are menacing on the entire album. The drums have never sounded more primal. And the bass never beat so good.

Yes, You Got Me Rocking indeed. Thru and Thru.

Amen!

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away
