It's definitely a Leslie speaker, or a Uni-Vibe.

No its not -it's the Varitone of the ES-355 on setting 2 or 3.

I thought that was just a notch filter.

On the iso tracks (posted somewhere here I believe) there is definitely some watery chorusing.

I have always believed that 'Turd on the Run' is an excerpt from a long jam. It's a kind of riff that can go for 20 minutes, with that great snare feel.
It never is talked about; We know very little about it.
'Exile' album IMO is the Stones at their most in-imitable. The tempos not very fast ( well except 'Rip this Joint'). 'Turd' has a bizarre overall sound. That blaring harmonica, the uprite bass, the shuffling snare; and mainly the guitar, which sounds like a toy.

I have relistened to this several times and there seems to be a definite "wobble" or "swim" to Mick Taylor's part, it reminds me of the sound on Clapton's guitar on While My Guitar Gently Sleeps. Almost like you get from old or worn out tape. Possibly it is the age of the tape but I hear this on the track below.

The parts, particularly the little slide chords and from around 1.00 minute.

The Varitone is a notch filter and I have a Les Paul with out of phase pickups which give a similar hollow sound so I agree and think this is a good spot for the tone. However when I play the parts with a Leslie pedal it sounds far closer to the take above.
