I thought the same thing.

Maybe they are trying to forget some of the timelines

25x5 is still the best docu on the Stones imho, Crossfire Hurricane and My Life as a Rolling Stone don't really go further than the 1981/82 tour, at least 25x5 also covers the 80s with the solo efforts and the Steel Wheels 'comeback'.

I really agree with you. As a young, teenage Stones novice, I learnt so much from 25x5. The documentary had a real point to it and was tied-in with the broader happening: the new Steel Wheels album and corresponding world tour.

Charlie's episode was the stand-out highlight of the four asfar as i'm concerned.
It was moving, beautifully pitched & revelatory.
Hearing his drumming on tape for the first time in the late '50s was fantastic.. he swung hard even then!
& his secret vault of musical instruments (incl Bird's sax etc) was spine-tingling & of huge historical importance.
The interview with his Saville Row tailor was so moving & the glimpses of his unworn suits choked me up.
What a guy.

Yes, that was so beautiful. After that, I would say the Keith episode, with all the early blues influences.

Agreed. And even during the opening credits individual pictures of all Stones, including Brian and Mick Taylor can be seen. That's a nice touch. No more Bill, Brian and Mick Taylor in recent years.

Just got the Charlie episode. Noticed they showed a shot of tapes from '72, and '70. I know '70 wouldn't be that different from '69, but I'm assuming it would be complete concerts.

I've noticed the BBC are really plugging on TV the four Rolling Stones documentaries, even though it's only on i-player now as far as I know.

I guess they will repeat the programmes on BBC TV every now and again, as they are doing now.

I loved all four of them and the Charlie one really stood out for me.

God Bless you Charlie. smileys with beer

Are these audio only shows? Here in the states I watched them as audio interviews over still photos on YouTube.

Uncovering the real Keith Richards

We all know the tales of rock’n’roll debauchery, but it turns out it’s really all about the music for The Rolling Stones guitar legend, writes filmmaker Oliver Murray.

Love the programme’s especially the Charlie one. My only complaint is that they used so much generic stones-style backing music when they should have used the bands music throughout.

Just to say as I've been away on vacation after seeing the band at HP2 now I have time to catch up with the BBC stones stuff they put out. Most is mainly things we may have seen or heard before (don't get me wrong, I loved it all especially Charlie) but there is a clip in the live from Texas 1978 will Rogers memorial gig where mick says inbertween songs
"I'm sorry if the band is lacking energy its because they spent last night @#$%& ". That my friends is it.. if ya don't get it, then ya don't. Rockman does...
Ps.i hope Rockman does, otherwise we are doomed

ROCKY…again mate, so many thanks on the heads up with this being on Stan. Watched each episode twice over the weekend. I found all four episodes so wonderful. The Ronnie one was quite eye opening. EMG. But the Charlie episode was just a lovely, honest tribute.

Again mate, thanks, I would have missed them if not for you!
