Guessing Shane Hawkins will take the stool

I suspect Matt Cameron will take the stool now that he just left Pearl Jam.

Rumor is that he was tired of touring. The Foo Fighters are (at least were; we’ll see what the future holds for FF tours) a touring machine, which possibly played a part in Taylor Hawkins‘s death. Seems like a super long shot to me. Jane’s Addiction seems defunct now, so elite drummer Stephen Perkins may be available for Pearl Jam or Foo Fighters, unless he has some issue with that.

The Foo Fighters are my girlfriend's favorite band and also how we met after I sending her a semi-trolling reply on a dating app where she is looking for other fans telling her I saw them in 1995.

After blowing off The Cult due to the venue change we are looking for the Foo Fighters 9pm Amazon Music livestream at 8:10 on my TV when a friend texts and says "What's this about the Foo Fighters playing a studio in Glendale?" HUH? Look it up, 2 different locations that I can find. One a mile away and the next another mile. I say "Let's just go" and we go. First location kinda dead. 2nd location what looks like entrance on one side, the smaller mostly residential street and see people going in. That's it! But looking for parking realize that's VIP and GA is the other side.

A few people just trickling in and only 6 or so ticketless. I saw 1 get waved in and that really perks my ears up. A security guard is telling us about the different setups at the place and how they are probably at capacity, which is 205, because even employees and assistants etc can't get tickets.

Then it's already after 9 when I hear someone inside say "50 unclaimed tickets." A minute later they just wave us in and another minute or so the show starts.

So went from thinking it's a mellow night watching the Foo Fighters that could be from Grand Rapids for all I know to being inside watching them an hour later. I don't even care but even after looking at the parking situation and she just wanted to go back and make it home before it starts on TV I was getting that feeling deep down that abandoning without effort would be a grave error. In the end it was one of the easiest times I have had going ticketless this year.

Awesome story. And very cool to see them in such a small place. I, and I would think many hardcore Foo fans, have had their gripes with them for some time now. To me personally, the albums haven't been "good" since Wasting Light, and the shows kinda turned into standard greatest hits fare, mixed in with an overabundance of jamming that I found kinda pointless. Add to that losing Taylor Hawkins, which just solidified that it'll never be the same band again, and the kind of unceremonious firing of Josh (and also Dave's whole cheating scandal, though that is none of our business), it became easier for me as a pretty big fan to kind of dismiss them. I'd love to see Dave rebound and really make another great Foo record again. But having said all of that, they and Dave still very much deliver live, and that experience you just described is good in any era of the band. Glad you guys had a blast.

Oh, and Ilan is a kickass drummer too.

The 12th Foo Fighters album, 'Your Favourite Toy' released today.

They played some special warm up shows here in Ireland in February, one of those venues was the 80-seat 'Other Voices' venue in Dingle, Co. Kerry. Imagine being in that audience!

Never been a big Foo fan, but they usually have an absolute banger or two per album, and live they seem to be quality.I know all of the singles, and have wanted for a while to delve into the albums a bit more.

The new one is getting very mixed reviews on reddit among fans, most press reviews thus far on the more positive side. I've been listening through the day, and have to say I'm really enjoying it. Nice and noisy, some real highlights.

Big fan here. I would suggest There Is Nothing Left To Lose and Wasting Light as decent starting points.

Saw them in 2000 in a record store in Knoxville the afternoon before they opened for RHCP. Awesome record store show! Covered Have a Cigar, Kansas and Borderline.

Foo Fighters really dropped off after Wasting Light. Its been such a mixed bag for about the last 15 years, live and studio wise. They are always fun, but they mostly just play their hits. I saw them live a few months ago and Dave's voice is finally starting to go. Still a fun show though. The albums since Wasting Light have been largely forgettable, but that album and the ones before are pretty solid all the way through. I'm still a big Foo Fighters fan but funnily when they were getting bigger I thought they didn't get enough attention and then when they finally started doing stadiums around a decade ago I felt "its sad they are no longer putting out good music to go along with how big they are."

I'll always be a fan but they and Dave kinda stopped being a creative force 15 years ago for me. I'll go see them every now and then for a dose of nostalgia but there was a period where they were excellent and I'd encourage everyone to check that out.

Not to me ... Sonic Highways is fantastic - only 8 songs but all are killer. Medicine At Midnight is also very good. And they also had the Sound City album w/ most songs featuring a guest artist, and every song on that is excellent.

I got the new one today, but I haven't had a chance to listen yet.

They haven’t topped Wasting Light since it was released, to me. Saw them debut Congregation (Sonic Highways) at the Ryman. Raucous show! Covered Polk Salad Annie with Tony Joe White and played till 2am in facepaint on Halloween night.
