This bombed spectacularly, did it not? Grossing a mere 1.6 million in its first weekend? If you want to see it in a theater, you'd better hurry.

Well, folks don’t go to the cinema in their droves anymore. I have many fond childhood and teenage memories of attending packed viewings: Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Jurassic Park, Independence Day, Titanic, etc. Those days are gone. Man, I miss the 90’s!

The concept is already done, 40 years ago. And the market has changed; these days rock bands do not top the charts.
Sure, there is still much to poke fun of but maybe it takes more than that to draw 55 plus seniors to the cinemas?

It depends on the movie. The superhero shite aimed at teenagers still packs them in. Demon Slayer grossed 70 million here in the states last weekend, compared to less than 2 million for Spinal Tap.

Fair enough, tatters. Regarding the ‘superhero shite’ it’s adults, too. Grown arsed men, enjoying Captain America and Spider-Man. It’s regressive and babyish. Never understood it!

I agree with you there, Al. The infantilisation of culture, as evidenced in various permutations.
Also, ProfessorWolf, your local cinema sounds fantastic - lucky you! Where in the world is it?
