OT: On This Date in 1970 John Barleycorn Must Die

Debuted live 4/30/1970. One of the great defining albums of the period (and by far my personal fave in the Traffic catalog.) Still sounds great 52 years on!

Always loved this song - Stevie playing it solo a few years ago...

Just listened to this. Great, but only 34 minutes total.

His reaction to the first line "Find someone who can comfort me" is sweet & hilarious! grinning smiley

My all time fave Traffic song. They were such a good band. Re tunes, Can't Find My Way Home is my all time fave Winwood song. It has probably, IMHO, the best melody line ever. Re Traffic and who was, if you haven't got it, treat yourself to Dave Mason's Alone Together album. It grooves from beginning to end.

It's the work of a fully matured artist at the zenith of his creativity, and it's amazing to think that Steve was still only 21 years old when this album was recorded.

It's my favorite Traffic album. Love the final cut "Every Mother's Son".

(the last song on Supergrass' first album 'Sofa', has the last 3minutes, which always remind me so much of the last minutes of "Mother's Son".)

Great album. At the time it became a twosome as we played LIB and JBMD in rotation on my Zenith Circle Of Sound Stereo I got the year before. Quite the package at the time for cheap stereo changers.
