I wouldn’t have him on that list, but Jimi was a wonderfully rhythmic player. His chord playing was funky, he slipped in and out of the chords to a tune a lot, little fills around them.
Now THATs a rhythm player!
The tape that he uses during the shows?

I wouldn't consider Hendrix or Van Halen to be rhythm guitarists! I voted for Malcolm Young, who is a rhythm guitarist, Angus says Malcolm is a better player than he is.

Hendrix was a great lead and rhythm guitarist, as was Chuck Berry, as was Jeff Beck, as was Eric Clapton, as was Jimmy Page, and on and on....

So chords= rhythm and solos= lead I’m inferring? They’re just looking at the chord playing aspect vs the soloing aspect. I see.
