Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer has "regrettably made the decision to sit out the band's concerts in 2022 so he can focus his full attention on his family during these uncertain times," according to a statement from the band. Kramer was estranged from Aerosmith in 2019 but returned in 2020.

Oh, that sucks. And what a statement. Why can't they just be honest? After 2 years of sitting around one would think that getting out of the house would be something to look forward to. And which family needs the "full attention" of their grand dad?? Sounds like a horror movie to me.

Keep in mind... personal damage is personal damage. As a absurd as it appears that Aerosmith gave him a hard time in 2019... You see how that turns.

Maybe they were right.

Just as with any band, the love of members, etc - it's a band. The band has to go on.

It is squirrely but, maybe factoring ego aside, they're basically Boston, not New York City or Amsterdam or London, Miami, Los Angeles or New Orleans. It's WAY different it seems.

And Boston is weird.

Yes. Maybe they were. Or maybe they are just forcing him out again and he doesn't want the embarrasement and plays along this time. Either way, the statement is fishy.

Mentioned earlier, they don't owe us anything, and can do what they want. This is still going to be good. We were spoiled, absolutely spoiled.

Well. Actually they do owe us a european tour. But I guess money talks and bullshit walks.

A band needs to know when to call it a day. If you are playing a Las Vegas residency you know that time has come.

It has been one hell of a ride, but it's over.....

I've seen Elton John, Rod Stewart & Van Morrison residency shows in Vegas & all have been quite good in varying degrees. Van was sublime but I wouldn't necessarily classify him as rock. Rod was fun & Elton John was a sneak preview of the farewell tour. His voice was a little shot but he told great stories & the band was top notch. It was enough where I didn't feel too bad about missing the tour. I also saw Santana @ the House of Blues. He was pretty good albeit a bit on the jammy side for my tastes. The guitar player from Indigenous came out & played a few songs with him which was pretty good.

crh: I saw Santana the day after this last RS show in LV @ the House of Blues also, from front row standing, and thought he was great, put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. (Not too jammy for me.) I met a few extremely nice people in line who stood next to me at the concert, and enjoyed it too.

Santana was on my bucket list for decades. I may go back again.

I just can't. Last time I saw them was at a corporate show at an Oracle customer appreciation party. 40 years ago they were great but better ways for me to spend my concert ticket money.

Yeah. I saw Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul, Diana Ross, Barry Manilow, Guns N' Roses and Santana in Las Vegas. All of them were great and houses were packed. To say it's over, just because you don't want to travel anymore/come through Vegas and play there, is ridiculous. Especially nowadays. Where everyone seems to be doing a residency at one point or the other in Vegas. Some even in between touring.

As much fun as people make of the Stones being Vegas, obviously it has nothing to do with being over, just predictable and playing it safe.

Although "playing Vegas" was perceived as being over, that's not true anymore.

Going by that logic, Billy Joel playing 73 sold out MSG residencies prior to COVID would indicate he's over. He's playing there again multiple times this year while touring.

This residency is not new. It's an extension of their 2019-2020 run of shows at the same venue. I saw them twice, once in April '19 and once in June of '19. The 2020 shows got cancelled for obvious reasons.

All five original members at both of my gigs and they absolutely KICKED ASS.
GREAT ROCK N' ROLL. Awesome venue, awesome set lists, awesome times.

No Joey this time means I probably won't be going back...but it's a hell of a show.

Just to be sure... You are equating playing 73 shows in New York over, what, 45 years, to playing in a casino in the middle of desert for 3+ months in row?

I just don't follow that, but perhaps I misunderstood?

Where it is and for how many months or years is moot. "Playing Vegas" is a residency.

Bad news for the fans, and hoping Steven can conquer his demons once again.

One of the great frontmen/ voices and characters in rock and roll, I hope he will knock it off for good this time.
Anyone over fifty is really pushing it, especially if you’re doing blow.

I think Steven had a problem before with painkillers, Vicodin, Percocet etc. he’s banged up from jumping around onstage for so many years.
It’s normal to not want to be in pain all the time, it’s a fine line.

Oh, that sucks. And what a statement. Why can't they just be honest? After 2 years of sitting around one would think that getting out of the house would be something to look forward to. And which family needs the "full attention" of their grand dad?? Sounds like a horror movie to me.

CLOSE family? Like his wife? Just saying; family doesn’t have to be kids or their kids. But it’s delayed now anyways

So once it's understood their drummer sat out their Vegas residency because his wife passed away four months ago, our response is to say Aerosmith died years ago. I'm not sure what appalls me more, the ignorance or callousness that is becoming increasingly common on this board.
