Seems they just canceled their European tour scheduled for this June/July due to covid a month or so ago.
With corona cases on the rise again in Europe, might have been the right decision after all.

Yeah this is why any Europe trips have been on hold. Going to at least the first 6 and a bunch more as time allows.

with corona cases on the rise again? nobody gives a sh*t about it... there will not be any restrictions during the summer season at all here... this decision was made just because it's easier money for them than some traveling/tour in europe

I agree. Was going to see them twice this summer, and was fuming that they hide behind Covid at this point in time. But I’ll see a better band instead, so all is good.

The venue looks amazing. Anyone been?
Saw and heard some about it while in Vegas for the Stones.
On the option list for Sept/Oct..

"Located in the heart of Las Vegas, Dolby Live is the preeminent location for live music in Dolby Atmos. The only performance venue of its kind, Dolby Live features a fully integrated Dolby Atmos music experience offering guests a transformative music experience they can't get anywhere else.

Featuring a fully integrated Dolby Atmos playback system, the entire space has been designed, calibrated, and tuned by Dolby engineers specifically for the 5,200-seat theater."

With Aerosmith it's kind of like equipping a sow with a silk purse spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Yeah.. the venue would be the big draw for me.. would hope to plan around another show or event.

Saw them twice back in the day and enjoyed it..
Once from the backstage.. worked one of those security gigs part time for a bit and landed their dressing room door.

Crazy night for sure, not the least of which was Tyler inviting me into their dressing room to watch porn and eat chicken wings. Was hilarious as it sounds.

He couldn't have been cooler.. or funnier, though.

Also in the ‘thanks for cancelling europe for this’ camp. Budapest and Sheffield would have been good but hey ho, cash recycled for the stones

I am pretty sure festivals in Europe pay more than a night in a 5,000 seater in Vegas and that they didn't cancel Europe for Vegas.

This is a big one. If he's not playing, I don't think I'd want to see them. Had tickets to the Madrid show this summer too. I think it's totally lame they cancelled Europe, but do want to see them again. I think this will probably be the last run for them.

He's apparently still the drummer.

Yeah. When it still was called Park Theater I saw Janet Jackson there a couple of times. The venue is alright. But nothing extraordinary, really. Just a midsized venue.

This is Vegas. This is MGM. Tickets in Vegas are expensive. Vegas pays well. Without the travelling and lugging huge stages across Europe, needing a big crew that has to be transported and lodged accross Europe.

Totally agrees with you! I was about to go to Cracow in Poland to see them, but they suddenly cancelled. I don't think they will ever be back to Europe again...

Averaged over a million a night in '19.
Very impressive, good on 'em smileys with beer

If you look at recent tours, Aerosmith don't tend to stray outside North America too often. Despite their popularity outside of that continent, I was a little surprised to discover just how few shows they've performed in, say, the United Kingdom. Aerosmith tend to fly-over for the big festival slots, but when did they last embark on a substantial European/U.K. tour? The ship has probably sailed, anyhow. A Vegas residency obviously feels appropriate to them.

They did so in '07/'10/'14 and '17 and did just fine. A mix of festivals and their own headline dates, just like what was planned for '20 '21 '22. They should have just fullfilled their contractual obligations one last time. We also held on to our tickets. They could have done Vegas afterwards. Especially since I also feel that this could be their last shows and certainly would have been their last planned tour of Europe.

If Joey still is with them, this is going to absolutely cook:

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia [en.wikipedia.org]

Steven Tyler – lead vocals, harmonica, percussion, piano (1970–present)
Tom Hamilton – bass (1970–present)
Joey Kramer – drums (1970–present)

Re: Joey Kramer - from the USA Today article linked above:

Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer has "regrettably made the decision to sit out the band's concerts in 2022 so he can focus his full attention on his family during these uncertain times," according to a statement from the band. Kramer was estranged from Aerosmith in 2019 but returned in 2020.

While the statement notes that "he and the band look forward to his future performances with Aerosmith," John Douglas will be stationed behind the drum kit while Kramer "takes a temporary leave of absence."

Oh, that sucks. And what a statement. Why can't they just be honest? After 2 years of sitting around one would think that getting out of the house would be something to look forward to. And which family needs the "full attention" of their grand dad?? Sounds like a horror movie to me.

Mentioned earlier, they don't owe us anything, and can do what they want. This is still going to be good. We were spoiled, absolutely spoiled.
