looking forward to this show?

No pre party on friday ?

there are so many other things to do in Paris! Maybe a pre party is more suitable/popular for places like Gelsenkirchen…

hi folks,

About the lucky dips. How long before do I have to go to the venue to pick up the tickets? What do you suggest?

Thank you in advance!

Usually there's not a long queue at the Lucky Dip Counter especially if you come after it has opened. So it is really up to your taste...the counter usually opens at the same time the doors of the venue open.

It depends, some shows the lucky dips opened in the morning!

Yep and even if you only get a GA ticket, chances are you can avoid the main queue, that's what happened for me at the U Arena in 2017.

I think this happened only in Great Britain 2018

It varies by venue. But usually the Lucky Dip counter opens sometime in the afternoon - before the doors open. They will email the opening times and the procedure a few days before the show.

Most of the time you are free to roam after you have picked up your tickets. I believe that the last time they played Europe, it was only in Berlin that they escorted the Lucky Dip holders right in.

in 2017 they did so in Hamburg as well as in Düsseldorf, but non in Munich. I don't know who they handled it in Paris because I didn't have LD tickets for those shows

anyone able to illuminate what the general situation is for getting back into town after shows at longchamps?

this was touched on earlier in the thread, but never definitively answered, i don't think

i thought i was being all clever, booking a place to stay in suresnes

on the west of longchamps, just across the seine

30 mins walk - perfect

but a more sensible look at google maps with the satellite image shows me that we'd still end up walking a fair distance through the bois de boulogne - not a good idea that time of night, i presume

so - what's the usual protocol for dealing with tens of thousands of punters at 11pm?

do they lay on shuttles or anything like that?

or do we all have to get on the local bus?!

or am i actually being over cautious and that walk would be fine?

anyone with any insight, i'd be most grateful

as far as i can see if you have to go to suresnes you don't go to the strange wood.

It was discussed further up the thread, getting back to Paris is likely to be a nightmare with the huge crowd, you should be fine walking back to Suresnes.

I have booked a hotel in Suresnes too. I don't know the area but I plan to walk there too. After the concert there will be a few hundreds if not thousands of people walking in that direction.

Looking at the map, Suresnes would be in the oppposite direction compared to Bois de Boulogne when leaving the venue?

My Suresnes hotel (the Ibis) is a 19 minute walk from the Hippodrome according to Google Maps.

well, the hippodrome is kind of IN the bois de boulogne

albeit on the western side of it

so we'll still be walking through some fairly deserted bits of the park, looking at the google satellite map

it may depend on how the entrances / exits work

if the way out is on the rte de sevres, as someone suggested earlier in this thread, then from there to the pont du suresnes is pretty bleak

of course, if there are a shitload of people walking that way, it'll be fine!

*EDIT* many thanks to everyone who replied - now that i've actually READ those replies!

sounds like i'm worrying unnecessarily

We have booked a hotel in Boulogne, a ca 30 min walk along the Seine to the Hippodrome Google Maps says. What could be nicer after a most probably fantastic show on a warm summer evening together with many other fans? It will be great cool smiley

I just noticed that the tour de France will end on July 24th (the day after the Stones show)… Paris will be even more overcrowded than usual…

The last stage of the Tour de France usually takes place in the late afternoon, finishing towards the evening. This year, there's the Women's Tour de France starting at 1 PM on the same day.
