Flight secured for Lyon finally! Spending a few days there before the show and would like to stay in Central Lyon to explore.. Any locals have advice on how difficult or easy to get to stadium from La Presqu'ile or areas nearby?

snoopy2, I think Google Translate does the job pretty much.
There might be some weird sentences here and there, but I'm sure it works

Safety advice :

if you're offered to stay at or visit the Guillotière area [pronounced : "gee-yo-tee-yeah-ruh] AVOID! It's a quarter that recently turned sour (think Chicago or Baltimore).
Other than that, yes Lyon is beautiful!

Haha, dcba, always the cheerful and positive fellow ;-)
So are you going to either Lyon or Paris this time around ?

Has anyone been able to figure out for sure if there was "left luggage" at the Groupama Stadium ? Based on this [www.olvallee.fr] there do seem to be "casiers" for 2€ so that's nice but I've also seen messages in Twitter saying there were "pas de consignes"...

I'm thinking of staying at an airport hotel the night of the show - can any locals tell me if it will be possible to get from the stadium to the airport via public transport after the show?
thanks

Hi, does anybody has a good tip for parking at the Groupama Stadium? Even a 20-30mins walk would be acceptable. Many thanks. Christoph

Best bet is probably to park at Eurexpo and then catch a shuttle that uses a specially built road. All the options are listed here for the 19th : [www.onlymoov.com]

In other news the opening band will be "Nothing But Thieves" apparently [www.leprogres.fr]

The weather forecast for this show is currently 38c/100F and you have to question the wisdom of men in their late 70s performing a high energy 2 hour show in those conditions. I can see a shortened show with a lot less moving around - as was the case in Budapest in 2007. I’m lucky dipping this one and have a spare for anyone interested.

Yeah, grim prospect...especially since that area is known to be generally very HOT...Well at least they can have giant fans around the stage, for the crowd it's not an option.

It will be my 1st ever visit to the area and I wasn’t aware of the hot climate. I hope they at least give out water to the crowd. 40c will be brutal. The ironic thing about fans is that they only benefit those close to them and actually generate even more heat!

This Norwegian forecast (prefered by BV) says the same: up to 41 at Tuesday and 38 in the evening. And there is almost no shadow around the stadium I guess. Like in Madrid and Milan.

Hoping there's no compromise on the length of the set but acknowledge health comes first. Does look extremely hot. Think they came on at 10pm in Marseille 4 years ago (not due to the heat, just that kinda place) so maybe a late start is possible in Lyon.

Health comes first for both the elderly artists and their audience. Hopefully the local authorities are watching the forecasts with interest and have safety plans. According to gotdablouse above, the area is well known for its hot climate so they must have dealt with similar before. Hopefully they factor in the age of the band and, let’s be honest, the relatively high average age of the audience too. I’m lucky dipping this one and I wouldn’t be too disappointed with seats in the circumstances.

I already mentioned it on Monday if you look up. I totally agree with you. I’m travelling to the show from the U.K. Rolling Stones aged nearly 80 performing a high energy 2 hour show has to be very risky. So too for the audience, many of whom have will queue all day in the searing heat. I’m 55 and I’ve never experienced 40c before. I’m originally from Scotland and anything above 30c is a struggle. I think we might be looking at a cancellation risk. Or perhaps they’ll have a delayed start to nightfall. But even then it’s still expected to be 33/35c.

Regarding the heat, I doubt cancellation is in the air. More than likely the band will have some sort of on-stage air-conditioners, mist machines, etc. to keep things manageable during the show.

And the concession stands will be thrilled at all the 10€ beers that they're gonna be able to sell.

Beer is the very worst thing you can drink in that heat. Dehydrates people even further and leads to frayed tempers and people passing out. While they night be able to keep the dozen people on stage well enough to perform, what of the 40 - 50,000 audience? There are all sorts of risks. Even if it goes ahead, problems are highly likely in 40c heat. Not everyone will cope well.

I'm not gonna get into some beer/dehyrdration debate, you'd win! Of course, they will also sell tons of non-alcoholic drinks too.

My main point is that there's 0.00% chance they will cancel because of the heat. That would set a crazy precedent, and the last thing promoters want after this covid nonsense is more uncertainty regarding show cancellations, refunds, etc...

Forecast: on show day up to 38 degrees, and about 35 degrees at 8 pm. That will be hard work. But better than rain and thunderstorm.
