I am staying in Liverpool for a couple of days after the show. Friday night, June 10, Elvis Costello & The Imposters are playing at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. I couldn't pass up the chance to him in Liverpool. The Philharmonic Hall website would not let me purchase just one ticket (there were only two seats left, fifth row from stage) so I had to buy the pair. If anyone is interested in going, face value of the ticket is 300£, please send me an email.

Hello,

Looks like Echo & The Bunnymen are the support act for the Anfield show.

That's a result- I've never seen them, and it'll help offset the outrageous ticket price (£35), hah-hah!

See you there...

Cheers,

Simon.

That IS a result! Ian just posted about it on Facebook:

We are very pleased to announce that we are sharing a stage with the Rolling Stones on the 9th June at Anfield. Tickets available via Bunnymen.com
There’s Nothing Like The Rolling Stones. And There’s Nowhere Like Anfield.
I can’t explain how unbelievably happy and proud I am that my band Echo & The Bunnymen are going to be opening up for The Rolling Stones, THE Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the History of Time, at Anfield, the Shrine of Life and football…The Rolling Stones!!! And at Anfield!!! I feel honoured and blessed…Thank you God
X Mac

The Bunnymen are brilliant in a Theatre/Club setting. I have my doubts about how they'll do in a stadium environment in daylight rather than the dark with dry ice swirling.
Anyway, still will knock spots off some other LPL acts like Lightening Seeds / Cast / Zutons / The Coral.

Look on Justpark.com I've got a decent spot 20 mins walk away handy motorway access.
Always use this site to park on someones drive.

Now that would make me think about opening up the Wallet. If this continues across each city then, this could be awesome

Poorly researched article. Bunnymen line up is years out of date.

I just booked my flight(s) Amsterdam - Liverpool (vv) and I am into finding a place to get some sleep before and after the concert. Lots of places have increased their price, but the distances within Liverpool are okay, so I'm not really worried. If nothing works it could be the dugout of the famous soccer team tongue sticking out smiley

Check “Be My Guest Liverpool” (near Orrell Park Station):

Also Orrell Park Hotel:

FYI Orrell Park Station has some distance from city centre (appx. 4 miles), but it takes less than 10 mins by train from Orrill Park Station to Kirkdale or Sandhills, both stations situated about 1 mile to Anfield Stadium, an easy walk.

Think you can get a train from Manchester airport to Liverpool Lime Street which is in the centre of Liverpool. Takes 50mins and costs about £10-£15 single

Your cheapest option is to jump the 26 from Anfield to the city centre and then change for the connecting bus through the Kingsway tunnel. I’m not sure what number that is but it will be on the Merseytravel website, your hotel will also be able to help.

Train routes to Anfield aren’t great. Kirkdale the nearest station is close to 1 1/2 miles away

Failing that you can always get a taxi. From Anfield i’d say around £15/£20

Yes, a lovely film and so romantic.
I’m glad it was made in the 80’s — I don’t think Letter To Putin would workyawning smiley

And…do you know Alexandra Pigg and Peter Firth, the actors who played the couple for one night romance were married together in 2017, more than thirty years after the film was made? A real happy ending:

If the weather is good, right above the ferry terminal building at the Pier Head there’s a nice Asian restaurant that has the best outdoor terrace view in the city. Matou it’s called. Even if it’s raining I’d recommended as the indoor seating area overlooks the Mersey. The foods also nice too!
