Delighted i’ll get to see the lads in my home town.
If anyone needs advice when coming to Liverpool i’m happy to help. Would strongly recommend staying in the city centre. It’s around a 10 min bus / taxi from the stadium but standard of hotels / restaurants and pubs infinitely better. (As Anfield is a residential area primarily).
The city centre itself isn’t too big with most places situated there within walking distance if you stayed there. The Albert Dock will be a nice in June if the weathers good, L1 Shopping area, The Cavern not too far away.

It’s no more than 15 mins in a taxi from the ground. You can also get the number 26 bus from Liverpool one bus station which is about a 5 - 10 min walk from your hotel.

Busses run until around 12 am
Unfortunately there is no local train station. The nearest one is Kirkdale and around 20-35 min walk.
On a match day there is a direct ‘soccer bus’ that runs from Sandhills train station to the ground however with this being a special event i’m not sure this would run. When I see it advertised I’ll post. The stadium is however served by direct busses from the city centre which only take 15 mins or so, so these or a taxi are you best bet. The bus is between £2/£3 and a taxi £10-£12 as a rough guess from the city centre.
The ground itself is only a couple of miles from the city centre. I’d recommended you stay there as the options hotel wise are extremely limited close to Anfield - and the standard of hotel lower. Liverpool is a city in the midst of regeneration, the centre is booming with countless high quality restaurants / hotels / pubs / bars. That hasn’t quite trickled down to the outer areas yet. Anfield is still in parts a fairly run down area of the city so you won’t find too much there although the vibe around the ground pre gig will be a good one of course if you get there early
