There’s currently an extensive poster advertising campaign going on in Liverpool. Suspect sales aren’t as strong as expected for this show.

Or they're just trolling Beatle fans.

And if ticket sales are slow in Liverpool, that would indicate the "hype" is a bad sign, right? Or is "no hype" a bad sign? I'm confused. I suspect most fans have their tickets, and are getting on with their lives until show day. We're not fidgety teenyboppers counting the sleeps until then.

Whatever music magazines and newspaper music sections that are still in existence will roll out their billionth Stones stories soon, I'm sure.

I always wondered: what if they played one stadium show, just for the sake of it, without warhorses, advertised as such, so that all ticket buyers know that they are not going to get Satisfaction and JJF.

The "no warhorses show".

Do you (they) really think it would not sell as a normal show?

I am quite sure it would sell out ...

C
Interesting thought. Don't think the selling would be a problem, rather that a lot of fans in the stadium would not know the songs and would not show the reaction that Mick likes to get from an audience.

Also at this point of their career I think playing just one show of rarely played songs would only make a so-so performance. If they didn't have a few shows to practice them it could easily get quite rough. Often the rare songs at their shows are nice to hear but a bit rusty performance wise. On the other hand they have perfected playing Jumpin Jack Flash and Start Me Up, they rarely disappoint performance wise.

Fonda 2015 proofs different. A fantastic show füll of songs not played for a Long time. But this all might work better in a theatre or a small arena. Many people were waiting for rare Songs in Florida last year because of the arena size
Yes you are right and I was truly suprised about that one. They played phenomenal, not just for an opening night. At most opening nights they're not able to deliver such a good performance, let alone on rarely played songs. Still you got to consider that most Sticky Fingers songs were played quite often love in the past, Can't You Hear Me Knockin', Bitch, Sway, Wild Horses etc. were played regulary during their big world tours. Also Moonlight Mile and I Got The Blues almost every night during No Security. So although they aren't warhorses, they aren't that "rare".

14 times (Moonlight Mile) and 5 times (I got the Blues) are hardly "almost every night" on a tour that that had 43 shows (including the European Shows where they played the later). And that was 16 years before Fonda...

Didn't realize it was that rarely played. Thanks for correcting. Yeah, maybe they could do one single show with rare songs and deliver a good performance with good preparation. I guess for Fonda they really took the time to practice the Sticky songs extensive because they were also going to do the Sticky Fingers rotation set at the stadium shows. Even if this "Sticky Fingers" set was shortened quickly to two numers only during the beginning of the tour.

Many shows sold very very well, there are even some complete sellouts, like Madrid. That didn't happen in a while. No need to promote.

wait and see… I'm still not convinced they already put all tickets on sale

as I told you: Tickets for Madrid are available again, see:

What about pop-up stores again like they did it in 2018 (e.g. at Primark in Dublin)?

Were Melanie's recent IG photos taken in Amsterdam?

Interesting. Mathijs mentioned Amsterdam in the rehearsals thread.

Saw that Bernard is performing with Karl Denson's Tiny Universe tonight in New Orleans, so at least those guys aren't in Europe yet...

It's not unusual to have to core band rehearsing first in a smaller space then moving into a bigger one with the full band, a staged sized rehearsal room with the PA

I suppose small purse is okay to take in?

I think that varies by venue. At least BST Hyde Park has info on their website:

We will not allow large bags into American Express presents BST Hyde Park but you will be permitted to take small bags in with you. We class small bags as no larger than 35cm x 40cm x 19cm.

Thanks Topi!

In Hyde Park it is clear, but any other Stadiums/ venues I can't find.
Particularly I'm interested in Madrid, Milan and Stockholm obviously winking smiley

Yeah, maybe they will post that info later.

Friends Arena (Stockholm) says this on their FAQ:

You are also not allowed to bring into the arenas bulky items such as large umbrellas, collapsible chairs, handbags and backpacks larger than 40x40x20 cm (height, width, depth)

Funny georgelicks - they quoted me in that article, yet they actually misquoted me by editing my original quote, and then took it out of context.

"Fans on the Stones fan site It’s Only Rock’n Roll also commented on slow sales. One, called Hairball, wrote: ‘Definitely seems to be a lack of enthusiasm. Everything seems muted.’"

Ummm...I wasn't commenting on slow sales as I have no idea how sales are going, but was commenting on the all around vibe and hype of the big 60th anniversary tour.

My full unedited quote as seen below was in reply to a post from you on the previous page of this thread:

The hype for the new tour is almost zero, very few news on the media, there's no buzz, nothing new to promote, a very weird way to celebrate an iconic date.

There definitely seems to be a lack of enthusiasm and hype compared to past tours - everything seems subdued and muted.
Thought there would be much more given it's the 60th, but so far there's just been some lame designed merchandise.

Typical of the Daily Mail though...twisting the truth...deceitful...
