CS Blues is just like Dylan's Renaldo & Clara from the 1975 tour; extremely boring apart from the concert footage. Both should had been edited with 70%-80%, then it would be a terrific 20 minute watch.

Yeah, the 70's were a time of overboarding rock star self-indulgence. A time when a scene of a music idol accidentally or intentionally letting off a fart backstage was hailed as a significant artistic expression... or so. Decades later, nowadays, after realizing that these people were simply human after all, it's just boring to watch.

right i agree but how much footage did franks shoot that was left out that would make for a more interesting document of the tour

i'm thinking like the recent footage of them rehearsing in texas

how much more like that is sitting around somewhere?

someone should be able assemble the footage franks shot into something more intersting

and even if they just released franks version how many of you would like to have a hd remastered video and audio blu ray (if for nothing else then just the live footage) as opposed to a 40 year old vhs transfer?

being able to see it that way might very well change the way many of us view it

I gotta think with the release of L&G along with the deluxe Exile that Mick would feel 1972 has been sufficiently revisited. Nothing more to come while he’s in charge of packaging product…

maybe well get something at the end of this year – otherwise all (unreleased!) 1972 recording become public domain

Did something happen to the original Quad master tapes? I got it on BluRay and the sound is only marginally better. I saw it in a midnight showing at a theater in 1976. Sounded great.

IORR member and band archivist Videojames once wrote here that the original film material for L&G is nowhere to be found. For the BR release they relied on second-hand footage.

One can only hope - as it happens so often - the cans of reels were mis-labeled, sit in a film vault and one day will be rediscovered.

All of the Philly shows were recorded and likely the Pittsburgh show is in the vault somewhere. I'm also betting that all of the NYC shows were recorded as well. I bet there's a load of '72 shows out there just waiting to see the light of day. I think this is the year for the vault recording release "Welcome to New York"!!!!!

Well, the actual live album could/sould be a start

If they chose to release something from 1972, it would make a lot more sense, for them, to release something that's allready available in so fine quality, illegally, that there would be a market for them (soon to be) semi-official CDs in official stores when the copyright runs out; not only among "bootleg collectors". And that means Fort Worth, Houston, Philadelphia or the last MSG show.

Winterland or Los Angeles....them circulating audience recordings would not appeal to the usual customers; they'd demand their money back. Even Pittsburgh 1972 wouldn't be any financial success, as it is now.

i clearly remember it being discussed on here about a uncirculated soundboard from the first part of the tour in california (sorry can't think of the exact venue/city) in someone's collection

and i think it's one of the shows without a circulating audience recording too

now that would be cool to get

There may be something from this tour in the Bill Graham archives that we do not know about.

I would find it strange that other tours were recorded but not the 1972 tour.

That may not be Texas. I was just reading/hearing that they originally rehearsed in a very cramped space in L.A. area before moving to the Burbank location.I can’t for the life of me remember where I heard/read this. Any help?

Crossfire Hurricane has quite a few clips from 1972 shows that have never appeared officially. Maybe there’s an opportunity to do a 1972 tour package with live video clips plus an audio CD of one of the shows?
