I find that the Mocambo songs inserted in LYL sound better on this cd, even if there is not much difference, but LRR here seems a different version, but I prefer it to the one from LYL which I love anyway.

Yes, Mentioned this earlier. 'Rooster' is a different performance from what I can tell, so the LYL version is 4/3/77.

Still trying to figure out the sources for the 7 songs that had previously circulated as soundboard recordings. 'Worried about you' is 4/3/77 as its the same version which was added to the new release as a bonus track from that night

Interestingly (or not), while they've left in the between song banter from LYL from the 5/3/77, the actual band intros are missing so either they come from another night or (more likely) they just edited them out. The 'Alright Margaret' shout out to Mrs Trudeau just before 'around & around' on LYL has also been omitted!

Release of the century. How were they this good in 1977? Did they rehearse?

Rehearsal time was cut due to Keith's late arrival (I've read that they had originally planned to play five nights instead of two) - which makes this performance even more impressive

Well worth the wait. As usual you can thank Bob Clearmountain for such a good sounding release. The man is a genius with this type of project/product.

As for the Stones they sound really good.

Yeah, I remember that, too. Thinking about it, planning five nights indeed indicates that the original plan was to have all of Love You Live from El Mocambo, but when the run was cut to two shows only, they possibly felt that they did not have enough material to choose from - in terms of enough versions of each and every song in case they weren't happy with specific takes. Maybe they simply did not trust themselves that they could indeed release one show from start to finish... Anyway, once other live tapes from 1975 and 1976 were brought in, any possible plan of a Love You Live drawn exclusively from El Mocambo were sadly finished.

NO HORNS. They sounded great even without the horns.
The guitarists were both on FIRE...
Tempos super fast ... Bill & Charlie!

Sounds like the ending of Street Fighting Man 1976...

Mindblowing release. Why did it take 45 years to realise that?
The old incomplete bootlegs deserve to be stored for the rest of their lives with a functionless future.

Thank you old boots: RIP

Let it rock!

HOT STUFF… best version I’ve ever heard of this one. That weaving of the guitars is great.

CRAZY MAMA... also has some damn good weaving. These two guitar slingers sound fantastic together!

BROWN SUGAR... Lordy do you hear Keiths guitar??? I sure as hell do in all its glory from the opening chord

Best release since Totally Stripped without a doubt!

What a performance! They were on fire and that's impressive considering this wasn't a tour.

Yeah the last minute or two is just insane.

This is treasure.

Got the CD set. Got it on Apple Music on my phone. Downloaded it to iTunes (or Music as it’s called nowadays) off my CDs to my Macs. And now wait on the neon vinyl set.

Just OUTSTANDING. I ADORE WORRIED ABOUT YOU too. But Melody, Luxury and Worried About You are obviously the three tracks from the other date. Tacking them on the end of the actual show seems a little odd, yet obviously correct. If you get my drift.

On first few listens, comparing the songs to LYL, would it be correct to say that 'Rooster' is a different performance (so, the LYL version is from 4/3/77) but the other 3 songs from that album are the same?

That's what I'm thinking also

How they didn't decide to make this concert the entire LYL album is crazy. This is the best live release they have ever had. I LOVED Mick laughing in the middle of Fool to Cry! So hilarious

Wow Ronnie shines on this! What a great mix and sound. Now, lets hope the next release from this area will be Memphis '78 which is very powerful too.

I think the late seventies was the last time the Stones really mattered. Producing new albums every other year and bringing them onstage. In many ways the 1981/82 tour was the farewell to that.

Just home after venturing into Golden Discs to pick up the physical copy. I stayed up last night to hear it on YouTube and have to say it is absolutely wonderful

The anticipation, the reviews, the legend of these shows - to finally sit down at midnight, earphones in, and listen the Stones put on this dazzling, exhilarating show was immense. Loved every minute of it, far too many highlights to even mention. The mix, the production, it is perfect. The band grooving, weaving, strutting like alpha rocking roosters! At some points it feels like being there in the club with them. A thrilling release, cannot wait to delve in again this evening.

Thank you Rolling Stones smiling smiley

Nice score! Picked up the CDs for $24 and Vinyl for $110 (US) at my local record shop! Pretty good prices, from what I saw posted before.
