Fender Custom Shop Master builder Ron Thorn took timber from the floors of the El Mocambo and master built a Strat and Tele from the timbers , also using Canadian Maple for the necks including African Blackwood Fretboards .

Isn't it from Paris 1976?

I think Jagger even sings „only girl in Toronto“ on LYL - but the guitar sound on Live at the El Mocambo is very similar to LYL.

Come on, Dandelion, it's gotta be Paris 1976 - it's says so on the Love You Live art. Now, Rip This Joint is more difficult to place. It's either from Still Life, or it's from Live Licks. Especially the guitars sounds like Live Licks, while the vocals might be taken from Still Life. (edit: if it really is The Rolling Stones playing at all)

Rip this joint is from Rock n Roll Circus for sure. The audience front row sounds simular...

Yes, that's what I also thougth for years, specially the mid, low music part sounds very like a club show.
Only at the end the Arena crowd noise kicks in.

A point that we must remember is that Daryl Jones does not have a free reign to interpret the bass lines as he does answer and report to a supervisor ( Mick )who tells him what is expected of him in how he holds up the bottom . The Stones are not an improvisational outfit .

That's actually not true. Jones has said in an interview that he is totally free to play whatever he wants. He once copied Wyman note for note on Respectable I believe and he was told not to do that.

LOL so he is told what to do, which is not "totally free to play whatever".

This is what I've always thought. We know it's not the version that was just released. Could it be from the other night? I am not familiar with the Maple Leaf Gardens show, if I were I guess that would answer my question.

... And so begins the clamoring for a proper release of "the second night" of the El Mo show.

IORR on Love You Live is indeed from Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto June 17, 1975. The complete concert is up on YouTube and IORR is a carbon copy of the album version.

I always wondered why they never were honest about where the tracks came from. Was someone really that lazy that they couldn't bother to write anything more than "recorded in Paris?" Mick's line about Toronto was kind of a giveaway. And I listened to Ya Yas for years before I learned two tracks were from Baltimore. Maybe they figure most people don't care? I like details.

"Gonna find my way to heaven ..."
