Love You Live would have been better if the bulk of the songs came from the 1975 tour. The If You Can't Rock Me and YCAGWYW are the two of the worst .

Apart from the best HTW ever, you mean? smiling smiley

And the best IORR - from Toronto btw winking smiley))
And the best Tumbling Dice, Brown Sugar, and the best JJF

I just love it

After today the best official live version of IORR will still remain being from Toronto, but probably a different gig... (But what goes for the other songs, BRUSSELS AFFAIR wins each of them, although "Honky Tonk" is pretty close, plus even a better JJF will be found from YA-YA'S and LADIES AND GENTS)

IORR is excellent. Same with SFTD, Hot Stuff, Happy, You Gotta Move...

Love you Live is a fantastic album! A great time piece with a fair share of what we now call rarities like Fingerprint File and Hot Stuff, a great rocking first, third and fourth side. Sound is fabulous, playing is fabulous. The only minor trakcs are You Gotta Move/YCAGWYW/TD, which sound very clinical and take away the pace of the album.

For me it's Charlie that makes Love You Live so great. Incredible groovy, eclectic playing. By 1981 his playing got quite stale and indifferent, which maybe is what makes the band sound "thiner" for some people.

But there's still no "preview-link" in Online-Stores, Streaming-Services or YouTube for today. And it's now removed from this Japanese website - [iorr.org] .

If iorr from Toronto 75 will still be the greatest
version depends on if they changed the tuning back
to B at the Elmo Gigs, like it was in 1975.

In 1976 they transcribed the song down to G - which is two
full notes!! Making it sound darker and not so “crisp” anymore
like it sounded in 75.
Pianos guitars and even voices all sound differently though playing
the same in different tunings.
Reason for the Down-tuning was jagger, complaining about
a sour throat, feeling the song was too high in B
for him to sing.
In Woodstock 1978 they rehearsed it and went back to
B. But didn’t play it live.
On the Woodstock tape it can be heard that they start
rehearsing it in G and then trying it and B.
You can hear the direct difference here.

In 89 they played it in B again - finally.

I don't get all the fuzz about it. I get that it's a club show and that they played a lot of rare tracks but I think during that time Mick's vocals were reeeeeeally rough. I mean I'm looking forward to any Stones release but is it really the holy grail that people pretend it to be? I would think that any show from 1969-73 would be better playing-wise.

But there's nothing memorable on side 1, 2, and 4 of LYL. Not one standout track to be remembered. It's just..........there.

Apart from the best HTW ever, you mean? smiling smiley[/quote]

Exactly, not. I remember the first time I heard it, I was thinking, "Get on with it, man. Quit playin' the intro over and over." It works better when it's live and you can see Keith is teasing the crowd. Doesn't work on record.

There you, Vegas Stones. I hated that version of Get Off Of My Cloud, tinkly piano and all. They haven't played it right since 1966/67. GOOMYC isn't some cabaret good time number.

I don't like Billy Preston's "Get Offa My Cloud" echo.

That doesn't suprises me, it happened before many times.

On any case, when I click on this link this is what I see:

It's gone on the website - but you can still see it because it's in your Browser-Cache. If you search on [Music.Oricon.co.jp] after The Rolling Stones, El Mocambo (or Rip This Joint / It's Only Rock'n'Roll) isn't listed anymore. But it's currently still in the Google Cache - [Webcache.Googleusercontent.com] .

That's true, thanks for the clarification. But all these little hints that popped since yesterday are in line with the info we already got from reliable sources.

It seems that a "new" 60s compilation is about to be released as well.

Maybe they delay it until after the tour announcement? Would make sense since they said "big announcement soon" yesterday. So to have another announcement before the tour announcement would be confusing

Seems to be a 18-disc 1963-66 7" Vinyl-Singles Box-set (27-May-2022) - [iorr.org] .
