REQ: Pls identify which Stones outtake this Black Crowes jam sounds like?

Would appreciate hearing the original. Pretty sure heard this on a bootleg of Stones outtakes, likely 1968-72. Did a quick youtube FF through some vids but didn't find it. Maybe you know and can help me hear this great track?

It reminds me a little bit of Ronnie's 'Take A Look At The Guy'.

yeah, this doesn't sound like RSs stuff to me at all. I couldn't decide between Allmans or The Dead too, funny you guys thought the same.

What makes you think this is a RS outtake? I didn't hear the band mention it, or see anything in the song list mentioning them.

CindyC, pretty sure the rhythm is some far-fetched track I heard on old RS bootlegs (Trident mixes?) as it sounded familiar when I heard it. The lead too sounds similar to what Taylor might lay over the top.

I'll listen out and if rehear the Stones boot with the track will update this post.

Thanks all for your comments smileys with beer

Black Crowes are copy-cats, anything they play sound sound similiar to something you've heard before. The seconds in question here is not worth investigating.

Found it. Rhythm chugs along a bit like Munich Hilton II on the Paris Outtakes. Though back to back listens show they are rather different.

What a great Stones track.

Yeah, but they're a great sounding RnR band...and that's plenty enough for me grinning smiley

Read an interview with the Robinson brothers in Guitarist magazine a couple of years ago.

They were just kids who loved playing RnR and emulating their heroes .

They worked hard and got some success .

Never pretended to be anything they're not.

You can't say the same for all artists.

Very true and they got a lot of mileage out of that technique until they crumbled from within with all of there fighting and arguments .

It's very nice music - and like others said, it's the Dead or the Allmans. Not the Stones.

Around 2015 they did a show in Frisco where they did a "Stones covers" mini-set and none of them were that great to me.

Sounds like the breakdown in You Can’t Always Get What You Want.

Live mostly, though a bit of the studio.

It’s a common progression.

It's hard to play the 5 string open-G and not sound Stonesy.

Erik's point I think is that the Stones quite quickly evolved from existing as an evangelical Blues band to develop a new unique sound and style of their own...

...The Black Crowes perhaps didn't achieve that...or even want to.

which is perhaps my point . For me it doesn't matter .
I don't mind a bit of derivative RnR so long as it's good.

Just in the same way as I never felt inclined to write any songs...but I sure love playing them !
