Andrew Loog Oldham's Sounds and Vision Podchat with Gered Mankowitz

Season 2 – Episode 9: Gered Mankowitz

Legendary rock ‘n’ roll photographer Gered Mankowitz joins Sounds and Vision to talk and reminisce with Andrew on a variety of subjects. The two chat about how Brian Jones was a troubled soul, the story behind the famous Rolling Stones’ Primrose Hill photo session, Marianne Faithfull’s early days, and how Jimi Hendrix’s landmark London performance at Bag O’Nails went over Gered and Andrew’s heads. But that’s only part of the conversation and part of the story — listen in and enjoy.

Wow, didn't know Oldham had a podcast. Can be interesting to hear his side of things...

Does anybody know if the Stones and Andrew are on speaking terms nowadays?

I don't think he has spoken to Mick since the split from the band in 1967.

He's met/spoken with Keith etc over the years since though.

The thoughts of Oldham's and Mankovitz' may be subjective - that their topics are still interesting more than half a century after they actually happened shows, what an aura surrounds the Stones.

He was backstage at a show in (fairly) recent years, wasn't he?

Especially their particular time period. Oh the things they saw.

Saw Andrew give an address at a local theatre in Vancouver some 10 years ago, before and after a very low rez web screening of Chatlie is my Darling. To say he is NOT a Mick fan is an understatement.

I noticed some animosity against Mick by Andrew in the podcast. However, the Stones are Andrew's favorite band.

...we can understand Mick’s animosity when we see the end of 60’s contract with Allen Klein.....!..Keith don’t think the same....
