That’s pretty cool, my mate is a postie and a big Stones fan. Do you have a link because he will be well into getting these.

I strongly oppose putting portraits, pictures etc. of living people on stamps or coins. That's something for authoritarian regimes but not for democracies, republics etc.

So excited about these! Back when I used to do a lot of work with the post office the no living people (except the Queen) was still a strict rule so I hoped to be waiting a very long time for UK Stones Stamps.

My excitement is more than a little dented by the lazy use of a reproduction poster! Why would you do that unless you were clueless?
(So many better poster designs too but always too proud to ask for help, Sad, sad, sad!)

Here's a comparison for a stamp by Germany's Deutsche Post on the occasion of David Bowie's 75th Birthday - [iorr.org] . Dunno if it's better since design is a matter of taste. They chose Bowie due to his Berlin years (1976-78).

I really wonder why they choose a picture from a show in Düsseldorf

Because I was there in 2017, in the Pit (Keith's side) and couldn't see Charlie smiling at all because he was hidden behind his Cymbal. So I would probably buy this stamp as a remembrance to the Düsseldorf-Show and Charlie. smiling smiley

And Stu.

Hardly surprising, but no less disgraceful. Shame on whoever excluded them.

(The narrative has the usual offensive mistake of crediting the Dartford Station meeting as being the start of the band, whereas it was OF COURSE Brian advertising for band members.)

If the designers of this set had any imagination they could have made one stamp of Stu and Bobby keys under a Rolling Stones header as the 'mystery' figures...........

Which bit?

Photoshopping out the cigarettes, or inserting something wholly not to do with The Rolling Stones into the thread?

I fully agree! We haven't seen all sheets yet, but still.
There may be an excuse. Bill, Mick T. and Brian (read: his relatives; his parents are no longer among us) need to give seperate permission and that could (have) complicate(d) things. I know, because I once needed those seperate permissions for an event T-shirt with a 1964 photo (Kurhaus) of the band. For me it worked out fine, didn't even have to pay anything !

Photoshopping out the cigarettes, of course. Knowing the original images so well, it just seems ridiculous.

Completely agree. My hands will be staying in my pockets. I notice Bill is frequently removed from band photos from the 70s and 80s, when he was still very much a part of it.

It was also done e.g. at the 2017 Stones "On Air" - see the Cover and the original b/w image on [www.Amazon.co.uk] .
