December's Children (and everybody's) vs.Help!

Will be going with Help! on this one. So far I have The Beatles up 4-1.

Very tough one for me!

Starting w/ the Beatles Help, there are a lot of great songs:
Help, Night Before, Hide Your Love Away, Lose That Girl, I've Juse Seen a Face, Yesterday

However it does suffer for some sub par tunes:
I Need You, Another Girl, You Like Me Too Much, and 2 or 3 more.

Stones/December's, also many great tracks:
She Said Yeah, Talkin' About You, You Better Move On, Get Off of My Cloud, As Tears Go By, Gotta Get Away ... and not really any sub par tracks, other than perhaps Blue Turns to Grey.

Edge, Stones!

Stones 5, Beatles 0

HELP!

Beatles win by a landslide on this one, though I have to say Get Off My Cloud is one of my favorite tracks by any band...bless the Stones and Charlie for the greatness of this standout tune - pure excellence.
However, the Beatles are taking their original songwriting to another new level of superiority, and still blazing trails for all others to follow.

Beatles 5 - Stones 0

Almost even on this comparison but Yesterday has to give the Beatles the edge.

Agreed. Yesterday is the most covered song in history for a reason. Even if you're in the 1% of the population that doesn't like it, you have to show it a little respect.

And while As Tears Goes By is a lesser song, it's a damn good lesser song.

Once again, I’m afraid it’s The Beatles trumping the Stones. Although side-two is considered patchy by some - and the reverb-effect added by George Martin in the 80’s is a bone of contention for a few – the song-writing team of Lennon-McCartney shows further growth: Ticket to Ride, You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away, and, of course, Yesterday, all show that the Beatles were still someway ahead of their contemporaries.

Decembers Children (And Everybody’s) is an enjoyable cut-and-paste record-label creation, yet isn’t an album that’ll linger in the memory of too many casual Stones listeners, I’d imagine; unless you were a teenager in the mid-60’s, perhaps. She Said Yeah, Gotta Get Away, Get Off Of My Cloud, et al, are terrific, though.

Until 1967-’68, I don’t think the Beatles could be matched in the L.P. stakes: Bob Dylan aside.

No, I’ve said it before: The Beatles were a phenomenon

My take on this whole thing is that the Beatles were arguably better on the whole at writing songs...

...but the Stones are much better at playing songs winking smiley

Get Off Of My Cloud alone crushes the entire Beatles catalog.
