OT: Track talk - "Moves like Jagger"

Although not written or performed by the band it may be the biggest Rolling Stones connoted hit since Start Me Up. "Moves like Jagger" is a song by the American band Maroon 5 featuring the singer Christina Aguilera. Released in June 21, 2011. Apparently one of the "best selling singles of all time" according to Wikipedia. Jagger himself liked the song and said " “It’s very catchy…Only thing is, it puts pressure on me when I go out dancing! I wish I had written it. But wouldn’t that be weird?".

Maybe this song was the first introduction to The Rolling Stones for many kids? Jagger joked about the song on Letterman and in an SNL sketch (please feel free to post links if you find them). So, what do you think about the song? Do you like or not?

Great salute to rock’s greatest ever frontman!

"Take all the pain...It's yours anyway"

Can you recognize it as a great salute to rock's greatest frontman ever, yet still hate the actual song?

That's how I feel.

It's an okay tune at best . Nothing special and I doubt anyone would know this tune if it did not include Mick's last name .

The song has grown very old, very quickly, I think. I do agree that it's a great salute to the Mickster, though.

I think I agree. Heard it once years ago, never had the desire to listen again.

I was in high school when this song came out and remember riding the bus and hearing kids in the back blasting it through their phone speakers.

As far as the song, I haven't listened to it in years, but enjoyed it a bit when it came out (hey-- I was a teen!)

Terrible as a song, and a tribute to Mick.

It is not a rock and roll song. It is more dance/disco/electropop. It has a catchy hook. Hence its success on the dancefloor and radio stations.
As a rock song, or even classic pop, it sucks of course. But it is not in that genre.

It's awful. I've never bothered to look up what that awful whistling sound is about. It's a cheap antagonistic "moment" for Moron 5 with its roundabout nod to Start Me Up lyrically but it's really got nothing to do with Mick other than being a braggart in bed. Musically it's all done on a computer with the vocal going through a vocoder.

Catchy, sure, but it's trash. Not in a good way.

A couple of Maroon 5’s earlier pop-hits are relatively catchy, I think. As I and others have said, however: Moves Like Jagger is a-w-f-u-l. I like me some ‘pop’ and I have many ‘guilty pleasures’, but this isn’t one of them! It’s irksome, irritating and grating.

I don't like Maroon Five and in particular can't stand Adam Levine, who seems like a stereotypical privileged douchebag bro-type, but don't actually hate this song. I will dance to it, if it comes on at a party.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Yep, that would be something. Imagine him swapping his "usual suspects" for Moves Like Jagger and England Lost. I wonder how the die hards would react?
