Wow. I realized while reading this how many of these albums still reside in my music collection. I am sure there are a number of folks here who still have or had these albums. (Hmmm...if this has been posted before, or so I'm thinking, excusez the re-post.)

I like how they specifically mentioned Buffalo Springfield’s Mr. Soul and included the audio. That is one powerful Neil Young number!

And Love’s Forever Changes? I can’t get into that one. I’ve tried.

-Agree. -So unlike everything else. However, that`s usually no objection.

I certainly have no objection against Forever Changes. The album holds itself up to the reputation IMHO. It may suffer from the cheap cover art, though.

What do you like about it? I’m seriously curious. It sounds weak, generic, uninspired, no heart, nothing to say, whimsical but flat…

And the line about snot turning to crystals on his pants? I mean, I like Zappa, Beefheart, etc., but that isn’t abstract or creative, it’s just gross. Maybe Love is trying to evoke boredom and disgust. If so, they hit the mark with me.

This is ridiculous! Why are we talking about the past? Why 50 classic albums from 1967?

Why not 50 classic albums from 2021?!?!

I've only got 6 of them. For most of these bands, I just have their greatest hits album like Mamas/Papas, Jef Airplane, Hollies, Dylan, Byrds, etc.

9. With some exceptions, I prefer music of the 70s

As to musical experiences, I like so many years. I dont know which year the best. However, I have a special fascination for 1967. That year gave two of approximately twelve great Rolling Stones albums, and two of their most different ones. Besides, releases of first albums of groups and bands that I love, decidedly like or only like. Think about Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett, PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN. And so often neglected, Vanilla Fudge with their debut album of the same title, featuring their marvellous version of "You Keep Me Hangin' on". Check it out if you have not heard it.

But when we are on this site, we really are into music from the past up to the present. Such lists with somebody's views on a year's best released albums can remind us of careers that we may have half forgotten, which could be a joy or at least worth while to investigate with a historian's perspective.

Such lists also of for instance each of the five latest years, with a similiar short presentation, would be most useful.

Here`s a version by The Nice. The only one I`ve heard, and worth every second of it:

Listened only to some moments of that. Read one of the comments under it, mentionning the Vanilla Fudge version.

On the album, that song is followed by "Take Me for a Little While". Before, in between and after those two songs on the vinyl album's B-side, there are short transitions, by the name of "Illusions from My Childhood", parts 1, 2 and 3. The closing track on the A-side is a wonderful version of "Bang, Bang" in a special arrangement.

[An OT-remark: their albums 3 and 4, that is RENAISSANCE and NEAR THE BEGINNING are beautiful as well.]

Vanilla Fudge are one of my very favourite bands all time.
