His Mom invented White Out and made a fortune...and Mike was of course a pioneer in music video and also on the ground floor of the emerging late 60's country-rock scene. Raise a glass!

When I was about 8 or 9 in the late '70's, I finally figured out what a live concert was, and I remember making my first concert related request to my parents - to take me to a Monkees concert someday. They had to break the news to me that I was watching reruns of "The Monkees" on TV and that they weren't touring anymore. I was so disappointed.

But, I was lucky enough to be able to see Micky, Peter, and Davy several times during their '80's reunion, and in 2016 I flew out to Los Angeles just to see Mike, Micky, and Peter's last performance together as a trio - also my first and last time seeing Mike perform live.

I like the Monkees. I've always liked the Monkees. The had the best songwriters available to them, and I think many of Mike's songs stood shoulder to shoulder with the best in the business. I think their music stands the test of time, and there's a lot of good songs in their catalog. They became much more than just actors on a tv show, and more than just a Beatles knock-off.

My sincere condolences to Mike's family and friends. I'm very sad to hear of his passing.

This is very sad. Mike had a very good solo career after the Monkees as well as writing some of their better songs. I'm glad I got to see him twice with the band, as well as a few times as a solo act.

Oh wow. I remember him on the tv show, the Monkees hits and others, his solo stuff. Weird- Paul Simon just came up in my mix singing "Slip Sliding Away". How quick that can seem regarding life. RIP Michael.

I just saw him on November 14 at the final Monkees concert. While it was obvious he had some issues in walking, he was able to stand for most of the show and was full of energy. I certainly wasn’t expecting this news now. RIP.

Very sad to hear. RIP. My neighbor saw him & Mickey in NJ in oct. She loves them to no end. She did say he seemed having a hard time moving around. They were huge in the day. In 1967 they actually sold more records than the stones & beatles combined!!

Very sad news. His solo stuff with the First National Band is so great from the early to mid 70's.

Their 1967 (?) concert at the Wembley Empire Pool is one of my favorite music memories. They were great performers, and a much better band than they were ever given credit for. RIP Wool Hat.

That was a good read. As a Monkees fan I appreciate all the efforts Andrew has been putting in. Good Times, The Mike And Micky Show, and Christmas Party are three more records than I ever thought I'd get from the Monkees, and I'm grateful Andrew helped make them happen. I wish we had even more.

Mister Dobalena Mister Bob Dobalena made his mark on society and now he's on the Last Train to Clarksville.

Thanks for the music and the memories.

Got me started on a 50+ year fascination with music....
