And yes CindyC can we all stop with frankly?!

I'll try harder, but can't make any promises.

Not your fault: I started it. Didn't know it was taboo, sorry.

Please post with respect and dignity. This is a thread about the Charlie Watts tribute. It is not some sort of "I hate this" or "I hate that" kind of thread.

Looked like a very nice tribute and memorial for Charlie indeed. From the info I have been able to get, this really wasn't any kind of a Rolling Stones show, but an evening organized by Charlie's family, while his invited friends and associates taking care of the music. The house band was Charlie's 'own' creature, ABCD of Boogie (I guess Jordan stunting, again, him). It is nice that the Stones members got a chance to have a private memorial of him - something they didn't organize themselves for 'us' - since they couldn't attent to his funeral. I guess that has meant a lot of for them to have this private moment with Charlie's family and other friends. Also very nice that Mick, Keith and Ronnie shared the stage with the house band for two old great R&B numbers - a choice I guess they had Charlie in mind.

This has been a helluva time for the Stones to get over or keep going. But I think the way they have treated Charlie and his memory, from the first reaction of Mick and Keith not saying anything publicly, has been a pure class act (very unstonesy in many ways). Something Charlie surely would have appreciated.

I wish Mick Taylor was there with others because to me, he's the biggest part of the Stones, and Charlie was the Stone. I know it's not about the Stones neither about who I think should be there but still. I'm more concerned about Shirley Watts, was she there? People talk about Seraphina and Charlotte and no mention of Shirley. I just hope she's fine and healthy enough to be there for Charlie's event too.

I thought Bill was most suitably dressed for a jazz club - only missing his pipe and slippers.....cool smiley...................Nah, he looked great, really stylish and he did match his wife's trousers and Keiths's get up............

I don't think it was meant to be funereal .......(not that anyone has to follow some unknown's rules like a slave for funerals either. I wore a red tie to my mother-in-law's out of respect for her colourful Oirish character............some didn't approve but I know she did.

Very Little respect for Bill's generation here! a question mark? Why do some people think that it's OK for people to RIP an elderly bloke, My great Friend "Enfield John" is 84 years old, if I hear a bad word...

Bill is a fantastic Bassist, if you listen, he changed a lot of beats

It is depressing to see controversy over this event for Charlie as well. We don't know if Taylor was invited, maybe for personal reasons he couldn't be there.
I will be naive, but many here seem to be conspiracy theorists.grinning smiley

can't believe everyone's after bill when ronnie wore those giant wacky yellow gloves that look like they belong on a cartoon character

but somehow he still pulls off and looks cool in them

Bill looks cool. Yes
But youngest? No.
Ronnie looks youngest and he is youngest.

Seems like a wonderfully private and respectful event...hopefully none of the usual hangers-on were peering through the windows or listening through slightly cracked open doors.

If you want to be critical of attire...feel free to compare Bill's choice of footwear to Keith's choice and tell me who was looking more respectable.

Fear no more. Yes, I am a K###stick, whatever that is. People are so easily offended. Bill was the best bass player the Stones will ever have. Charlie and he were very tight, during, and after Bill left the Stones. They were also the only Stones to attend Brian's funeral. I'm sorry Bill didn't get up and play at the tribute. None of us know why. I will never again make a stray, harmless comment that the Internet Police will rain digital blows upon my head for. Charlie and Bill were the best rhythm section, ever.

Maybe Mick Taylor was invited and he can´t attended, we don´t know, please don´t judge without no know...

also Leavell didn´t attended and fortunately nobody cares about that

For all we know any or all of those not present may have been unable to attend - not least because there is a pandemic going on folks, and people are failing tests left right and centre.

Delighted this event happened where it happened and with so many of Charlies' friends and family present. And that it remains essentially private.

They all look great and in good health smileys with beer

Very thankful for that... could give a shtt about nitpicking their attire or accessories or hair.

They got together with family and friends and honored Charlie properly, for the family and themselves. Glad they were able.

They couldn't have handled this, and the tour, any better after Charlie's passing.
Good on 'em.

Someone mentioned Keith using botox injections the last several years, and seems more noticeable around his eyes and especially the forehead in the recent pic.

This was a beautiful farewell and tribute to the great Charlie Watts, held at Charlie’s favorite jazz club in London. How perfect.

For all you TMZ wannabes, commenting on hair, clothes and cosmetic procedures, start a new thread about that. This thread is to acknowledge a special evening with Charlie’s family and friends, and I think it was all quite lovely and touching.
