I must say, that was some poor Norwegian spruce for a Christmas tree. What happened, really?

Norway is sending many trees to UK and other places. Some of them do probably have a rough transportation over the North Sea in a boat, who knows what happens during transportation. Salt water is not ideal for a tree.

It is the thought that matters, right? Also, if the tree happens to be imperfect, that is nature.

How dare you diss our tree (to be fair not exactly the best we've received) but the reason why each year is more important. I will leave that to bv to tell

It used to be that you couldn't see through them, even the big ones. But it wouldn't be surprising if those specimens got exceedingly rare over the years as they obviously take longer to grow than household size ones but the frequency is the same.
