Ronnie Wood and Andrea Corr: Blue Christmas
Posted by: Mabru ()
Date: December 3, 2021 09:10

Andrea Corr from the Irish group The Corrs dropped a Christmas song “Blue Christmas” with Ronnie Wood.
I couldn’t find it on YouTube but it popped up in my release radar of Spotify

Oh yeah...not. A one time only listen like grandma and the reindeer. I kept wondering who Ronnie was trying to channel vocal wise - Dean Martin, Dylan, Keith, your inebriated uncle insisting he can sing with the best of them. It's given me a whole new appreciation for Dylan's Xmas album.

Long-time Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood has released a cover of Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas" alongside Corrs singer Andrea Corr.

“The bluesy guitar on the Elvis original immediately brought Ronnie to mind,” the Irish singer-songwriter said in a news release. “I thought, maybe he’ll sing with me too. I gave him all the outs: I’ll understand, not to worry, we can still be friends and he just said, ‘yeah’ with so much enthusiasm. Now, it’s not just him and his guitar that I love: His singing is so good on this record

“As soon as Andrea asked and I listened to her voice on 'Blue Christmas,' I knew I wanted in,” Wood said. “I didn’t even have to think about it. We had great fun doing it.”

Nothing wrong with releasing new music (even covers). I'm sure this one will get some radio air time in December. Among all the other new releases and the old standards.

Made me want to grab a drink at first (sorry Ronnie) but in the end it brought a smile to my face, It's a well done little tid-bit with some tasty guitar.

I like it. Obviously they enjoy singing together. Great to see Ronnie avtive.
And he did a nice vover painting.
I always liked Ronnie Woods music, his look, his attitude and his personality.
I was a big Faces fan too...
His guitar style, which is unique and sometimes sloppy, full of emotion, Rock'n Roll and sometimes so dirty.
I'm a Ronnie Wood fan.

Love it. The fact that it is not polished, far from note perfect, and not especially serious, all adds to its charm. The song was always OTT, regardless of who sang it. Elvis manages to sound like he is imitating himself on his version.

Great bit of guitar on this as you would expect from the Ronmeister, and the drawings are wonderful as all his artwork is.

My favourite Christmas record this year...

Definitely not on my Christmas wish list, but glad Ronnie is staying active.
Would be nice to hear some legit new solo material from him - especially considering the Stones as a band can't seem to get it done
