Let's throw Eric Clapton in there too, compromise and have the Dirty Mac headline.

Heck yeah when ya have a serious
think about it there's room for both bands ....

Beetles would do the day time gig while crowd
chew jelly-babes...blow bubbles .. paint their faces ...
Here comes the sun .. Polythene Pan .. Golden Slumbers...
Many are then crushed in the portaloo rush ....

Sun goes down ...Moon creeps up.. crowd wakes again
Acid kicks in ... Face paint dribbles ....Angels come out of the dark

Gene baby could warm up crowd with bluesy Be Bop a Lula..

Stones ....Gimmie Shelter... Monkey Man ... Rambler ....rhythm..
dogs wander on stage ..more rhythm.. Chaos kicks in... Hippies burn their caftans ...

The Beatles would have been the headliners but if they both played the crowd would have been just as pumped to see the Stones.
The only act to maybe be the headliner over the Beatles might have been Dylan.

I've once read that the Stones had been asked to play Woodstock but weren't allowed to enter the States because of legal proceedings due to drug abuse in England ... don't know if that's really true.

I just have a really difficult time seeing Dylan over the Stones and the Beatles or even Led Zeppelin . Has Dylan filled stadiums ? Or theaters or arenas ?

Maybe if it was Dylan and The original Band that would sell big time !

I think it would have more to do with who was the most legendary artist and act. Everyone including the Beatles knew that Dylan was the man. The crowd was a bunch of hippies which would also favor Dylan.

No argument there as I agree on the artistic and creative genius of all things Dylan . I just wonder about his drawing power , you could even say at his peak as well .

With 400,000 in attendance and cars parked for miles, did the festival really need a(nother) big draw? cool smiley

The answer to this is the Beatles as much as it pains me to say it. They were the biggest band ever and to say they couldn't play live is foolish. All one needs to do is watch Get Back

We know how the Stones opened their 69 US tour shows, but what would have been a perfect Beatles opener?

Helter Skelter?

Sgt. Pepper's?

Help?

Revolution?
