Tissues on stage?

Why is it that the Stones always seem to have boxes of tissues on stage? Is the common cold constantly running thru this band? I don't recall any of their contemporaries with boxes of tissues on stage year after year? I get Mick having a towel to dry off...

If I'm on stage at 78, I'm probably sweating a lot more than today. Tissues might come in handy smiling smiley

Mick uses them to spit in. It's a lot more viewer friendly than what Patti Smith does, spitting to her right all the time.

Mick J. powders his hands before he plays the guitar on Miss You - [Twitter.com] . That explains also the white dirt on his black trousers.

performative spitting is also a feature with Mick, I don't recall him ever using a tissue for that

There are tissue boxes in every hotel room I stay in, every place, every time, one star, two star, five star. And I do always have a bottle of water in my room on tour. Same at home. I sure do have allergies, more or less, nice to have tissue paper around. I am sure Mick simply need to blow his nose and drink water when he is on stage. Not all the time, but some times. Nothing I would worry about.

They're old. I'm loathe to point out that old people may have a tendency to drool.

He spits into them all the time. There are always tissues near Chuck, and a water bottle. Mick walks over there, grabs a tissue, puts it to his mouth and later throws it on the floor.

Mick spitting on the stage floor is such a distinctive image that I won't even bother to produce video evidence. What you describe might also happen but there's no point to it. the tissues are for nose blowing

Haven't noticed any of them drooling yet, but if so that might be a telltale sign it's time for them to stop rolling...

From my experience, I would say this differs according to the penis. I don’t work in absolutes

It may have something to do with all the smoke effects they use as well.

I don't remember which dome it was the top was filled with a smoke cloud.

Not to mention all the dust from the fans so there are plenty of reasons for them to be on the stage with them.

It could also be from all the coke they did when they were younger.

I think some bands use them underneath the stage - probably during the drum solo...

Anyone else tired of how they keep using Kleenex over and over? Why not switch to Puffs for a show or two---it doesn't even have to be a club show---and reward the longstanding fans? We've paid for their facial tissues for decades, and tour after tour, we have to watch Mick blow his nose into Kleenex... You'd think Keith would get tired of it, but apparently Mick and Chuck determine the facial tissue selections...
