Next to the Stones I do like listening to the Doors. Furthermore Herman Brood belongs to my favorites.

But in fact the list goes on and on.

they certainly did in the '04 election. thankfully, the trend seems to be that about 15% have pulled their heads out of their respectives asses the past few months....too little too late.

I've also always thought Ray Davies was one of the most underrated songwriters from this period. I saw then only once at the Guildford Odeon, just south of London, would have been 1965/66. There were 4-5 bands on before & they were the headliners. We went nuts.

I doubt the Kinks will tour again. Dave had planed to tour in August to promote his new CD but his doctors advised against it. Dave agreeded he need more recovery time from his stroke a year ago.

gotta love the kinks and ccr, even the solo careers of davies and fogerty are solid. Kinks are such a great Brit band i can forgive them for the blatant rip-off of JJF's riff in "Catch Me Now I'm Falling" (good song!) haha.

What is this talk about the Brits bringing back blues to the USA? That seems absurd. And so Michael Bloomfield, Johnny Winter, and Captain Beefheart don't qualify for important white blues artists of the time? Sure the Stones were and are the best in their league, but there were others for sure including the great Paul Butterfield.

I thought this post was about CCR and the Kinks (both great by the way), not some political rant. Go to a political board for all that.

BTW, as an American, I agree with a lot of what you have to say. Say it elsewhere.

Yep, it´s like a disease.
But, Elmo; I´d sooner call this nationalism.
Swedish rock is the best. And Hungarian. And Danish.
Or American. English. Jamaican. Or...

Its no competition.

That's complete rubbish. Not to mention the fact that Mick Avery was not chosen as The Stones drummer because he 'couldn't' play a back-beat (something to that effect, anyway they didn't think he was good enough) properly.

And since when is 'You Really Got Me' (the original version) heavy metal? Come on! Hard rock, ya 'maybe' but heavy metal, please! (oh, and btw, I love The Kinks).

I ain't stupid, I'm just guitarded.
